So I bought an 03 VFR/A with 7500 on the clock for the wife ;) . I knew the wiring harness recall had not been addressed yet, so I made an appointment with my dealer to have work done. Drop the bike off and wait a couple days. We get a call from the dealer on Fri. saying the bike is ready. Cool guess what Im doing this weekend.NOT! Get to the dealership and start the bike up and its idling like crap. I go back inside and tell the service manager, He comes outside to hear it and tells me to ride it home and if there's any probs to bring it back. Between 1500 and 2000 RPM's it runs REALLY bad between 2000 and 5000 it runs bad above 5000 it runs fine. So I get back to the dealer and the tech who did the work doesn't believe me. Until he rides it through the parking lot. 2 days later I get a call saying they put the old harness back in and everything is fine, so they have another harness on order. After a week of not hearing anything from them, I call and ask them for an update they tell me they recieved new harness and installed it and the bike ran like crap again. That was over 2 weeks ago. Other than 2 Bros exhaust every other modification is cosmetic. I am going over to the dealership tomorrow to get an update and warn them the Mrs. is getting ready to pay them a visit, all PMS'd out. And before the body count rises and we get blacklisted from ever owning another Honda. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions or has ever experienced anything like this.
Thanx Mr. lineleader
YEP - contact Tightwad for his VFRness and do it yourself. If an idiot like me can do a harness recall in my garage - WHILE holding my own flashlight and drinking beer - anyone can do it.

Wasn't it true that the harness for a non-ABS and ABS are different? If so maybe they ordered the wrong harness.
Just a thought!

http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/%201.gif Would be my guess as there's several harnesses available and if there's more than one choice I'm afraid most Dealers will order the Wrong one!
BTW Welcome to VFRD and sorry for your troubles, all you have to do is avoid dealers and you'll be fine!

I haven't met you yet Ken but now I can't wait!! ;p
As for the harness recall, I have a 2003 Abs and the recall worked for me. Been thinking about Tightwad's VFRness though...
Sorry you're having problems buddy.

Thanks for the props Ken, but his issue seems much deeper rooted than what the VFRness is meant to fix (other than the blue wire mod of course, but that is supposed to be fixed with the harness)! They must be forgetting to attach some ground wires or something. I think I remembered why I haven't had the recall done.....BR and his valves, me and my recall harness....we will do them at the same time I bet.
