What mileage are the rest of you experiencing?

Depends on the tire as there are many different compounds with varying degrees of hardness/stickability. From a Pilot Power which is on the stickier softer end of the spectrum I get 2500-3500 miles on a rear.
That is well below average mileage for a sport touring tire. Softer sport tires may yield 2500-5000 miles. D220s should last more like 5000. Driving like a grandma on smooth pavement one could get over 10,000 on D220s. Many factors affect tire wear. Low mileage factors are aggressive acceleration, high speeds, hot weather, course chip seal roads, inaccurate tire gauge. I can not imagine you are all that easy on tires.
I just took off a Pilot Power from the rear with 3500 miles on it that still had at least 1500 miles left on it. Only reason I changed it out what that Im taking a long trip in a week and replaced it with a PR2. 3100 miles is ridiculous if you ride easy.

When I got rid of the stock Dunlops I was very happy. Pilot Road 2's have a much longer life expectancy AND are stickier (have more traction). And there are even harder compound tires that will last you much longer. Unfortunately, hard compound tires last longer, but don't have as much traction. Soft compound tires will have more traction at the expense of tire life.
Look around, there are plenty of great tires out there. A lot of people on here recommend Pilot Road II's.

I did NOT do so well with my D220 either. The rear went in 4000 miles and I really am not so aggressive with my driving habits. I just switched to the ROADSMART front/rear. I hope the wear is better.
I have had several Dunlop products with varying results:

Dunlop 207s original tires cupped badly at ........................2500
Dunlop 220s solid performance, hit the wear bars at .........5700
Dunlop 220s solid performance, hit the wear bars at .........5600
Dunlop 208s stick like velcro but toast at ............................2300
Dunlop 220s solid again.......................................................5600
Dunlop Roadsmarts, front wore horribly, new free one at....1500 (see photo, flat spot was a RAISED area)
Dunlop Roadsmarts, mounted over the winter, doing OK at.1200
I just put on new tyres today so I'll have some fresh tread for Tex-Mac..... The tyres I took off were the Dunlop's that came with my VFR..... The rear tyre was at the wear marks in the middle of the tyre...... The front tyre was ok and not wearing in the middle,but was cupping something awfull.... I'd say that I was heavy on the throttle when straight up and hard on the front brake when going into the 1st part of the turns....... I check the tyre pressure every morning (36-f ; 42-r),(I'm 230 lbs.)........ I had put 4,500 miles on them in 2 months...... I just put Pilot Roads on today.... It's a tyre I've been using a long while (on different bikes) and usually get 8,000 + on the rear..... And 9/10k on the front...... so now I'll see what my VFR will get on the same tyre..... If I don't get close to what I've been getting, I'll try the PR-2's next.........Monk
I have over 10,000 miles on the PR2. I think I should still be able to get about 3-4 thousand more on the back and probably another 10,000 or more on the front.
I got about 5000 out of my D220's. I didnt like them at all. Poor road feel, not sticky enough and surely not enough life for the riding I was doing (not too aggressive) I just put a brand Pilot Road II on the rear, and Pilot Power front, which I hear is a great combination for grip and long life. From what I understand, stay away from just about any dunlop.
I've done well with Dunlops over the years. K-81's on my race bike back in the 70's. But lately it's been getting worse. If these ROADSMART tyres don't do the trick I'll switch brands. The cupping on the front wheel is the most disturbing. The head shake was bad news with my 208's.

My new tires are the Roadsmarts too Brian. We'll see, but I am not holding my breath.
In 33 years of riding, I have found that every time a manufacturer comes out with a new model, extended mileage is always part of their hype - and that is all it has ever been, hype! Tires do stick better today, but the manufacturers have a long way to go at improving milkeage. And frankly, I don't think they have any intention of improving mileage. After all, they ARE in the business of selling tires.

I don't ride slow - I wear 'em edge to edge. My riding = commuting + 100 mile days in the hills + 1500 mile 4 day mountain road riding trips. I make my VFR do it all :).
We put a set of Corsa 2's I believe they are on our 5th gen and this past weekend got them down to cord with just 1300 miles on them and thats riding twisty roads vs. slab. Will not use them again. I will either go back to PP or to PR2's like I have on the Concours 1400
I've gotten similiar mileage from the Michelin Pilot Powers. I'm currently running the Pilot Road 2's and with 1000 miles they still look brand new! They also handle just as good as the Powers and are great in the rain. My last tires were Pirelli Diablos. They don't hold a candle to the Michelins. I did get around 4K out of those though, which is decent... I highly reccomend checking out the Road 2's - great tires!
