In my photo's you'll see the final results on the 2002 that I totaled in November. The final # was 104hp and 56.7 foot pounds of torque to the ground. Now on several pulls (29 total) it made a little more and even 112 on 1 pull but we weren't tuning the bike for max power but rather a smooth controlled torque and horsepower. Those are difficult things to get from a V-tec engine. The owner of High Performance cycles (Lake City Fl.) is a good friend of my brothers and real does me right. He tunes bikes everyday and works on track bikes all the time. He does turbo kits, etc; really knows his business. The bike had Motad head pipes, Erion Racing slip-ons, K&N air filter, Snorkel removed from the air box, 44 tooth rear sprocket and a PCIII. The biggest thing was the torque over 40 foot pounds of torque from 3200 to 1200 RPM, the bike was fast! I moved all of that equipment to my 2004. Jeff at High Performance cycles also has the best prices on tires youll find.

I think when I bought mine from Das Bones the dyno sheet had 102WHP. I can go check..

All I know is its fast enogh for me. I would hate to see how a "fast bike" feels....

When people ask me my HP figures, I tell em, "not nearly as much as it looks like it has"

+1, except I would like to take a nice spin on a faster bike just to see what it's like. My VFR has enough hp and torque for me, but I'd still like to test the waters sometime! ;)

LOL, I do the same thing. I've said it countless times: "It looks faster than it is, but it's still pretty fast." Anything that does 0-60 mph in ~3.5 seconds is pretty fast IMO. :fing02:

I have found that the problem with riding a "Fast bike" is that they are so refined, that you dont notice an instant, jaw dropping difference, until you are on a familliar corner and notice how much faster you are approaching the next bend.

I've been asked a number of times (by non-riders) how fast my bike is. My reply is always the same (not that fast, about 150 mph) and the replies are also always the same (that's not fast?!)

Sure the VFR can't touch a super bike or super sport, but compared to even the quickest mass-produced cars, the VFR will still beat any of the following in the 1/4 mile:

'09 Corvette ZR1 - 11.7 @127

'09 Lamborghini Murcielago 11.5 @ 127

'10 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 11.7 @ 126

'09 Dodge Viper 11.8 @ 128

Sure, these cars would have passed the VFR after the 1/4 mile, but the VFR is no slouch when it comes to acceleration. And how often do people ride or drive over 150 mph?

^ My thoughts exactly. ^

I'll be going on a ride up through central to northern AZ next week with a Ford GT and a Ferrari 360. We'll see how well she hangs ;)

I thought the VFR was in the upper 12's. Anyone done this?

Here you go Monk. "Stock 2007 25th Anniversary Honda VFR800 RC46 Interceptor Top Speed Dyno Run: 3-17-2007, mileage 832, 12-170.3mph @ 12000rpm in 12.2sec, 96.6whp @ 10500rpm, 54.4tq @ 8600rpm" The problem with 1/4 mile times on the 6th Gen VFR, from what I have heard anyway, is that the time are in the low 12's stock but could go faster, bike does not seem to have enough power to overcome wind drag to go any faster. I have had mine up to 135'ish (GPS speed) and the bike was no where near redline but seemed to be running out of speed.

After several 1/4 mile runs my best time was 11.6 on a near perfect light. I'll have to check my slips for speed but i think it was around 118mph... That's bone stock too.

Oh... and on a side note ..... Burnouts really mess with the ABS system!!! :goofy:

Another question I have is.... does the PCIII just remap fuel? These bikes are made to run on 87 octane which tells me there is some hidden HP in changing the timing curve and running 92-93 octane, as you can in a car. Anyone ? anyone?

Yep, the Power Commander's for our bikes change just the fuel mapping, and NOT timing. Some later models for CBR's and GSXR;s and the like can change ignition timing, but none are available for our bikes.

If this was available I think another 5 ponies could probably be made at the top end by advancing the timing properly (and this is complicated) and running on 93 instead of 86, but I think it would be hard to make this smooth.

So, just to be clear as I'm installing a PC3 tonight ironically....whether stock or w/ a PC3...you can run 86/87 octane?

Forgive the newb question....mabye I missed that page in the manual. I always run premium in my bikes..never thought twice about it...but thats interesting to know. Thx.
#22
Yes, you should still be able to run 87 just fine. It's what goes into my tank 95% of the time, without any problems. I put in 91/93 if I'm doing a trackday or a sport ride on a really hot day, but that's just for peace of mind... I know it's likely not necessary at all.
#23
Yep, you can run 86 or 87 just fine. I try to avoid gas stations that offer 86, I just figure they are cheaping out there, and might be other places. Not that you'll get detonation on 86, just that it might be dirty or cheaper elsewhere.
