Bike lowered with Sigma Cycle kit. Originally Also rotated triangle but bike too low. Triangle rotated back to original position. Sargent seat placed. Techspec tank grips. Givi V35 side bags. Will be going to Deals Gap week of June 7th. I will ride and meet my brother-in-law who will be trailering his Triumph. Anyone know any decent hotels near the Dragon?

Check www.tailofthedragon.com for hotel info, you can find a decent room also at the Franklin Motel in Franklin, NC. This year's TexasMac event was based there, and while it's 50 or so miles from the Dragon, the route to get to the Dragon from there is awesome. Take NC28 all the way there, it's about 45 miles of Dragon-like road!

also check in Maryville close enough to the dragon yet plenty of hotel/motel around the airport
or tellico plains it is a small town at the end of the cheroa skyway. the skyway is a better ride IMO

How do you like the lowered bike? I want mine lower but think 2" is too much for me. IDK though. I am 5'10" and have a 30" inseam. How do we compare as a reference for the lowered bike. Thanks.
My favorite place to stay is at the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort. Room for two runs about $60 a night, and of course you are right there in the middle of everything. If you stay there I highly recommend having a few brews at night around the fire pit with other guests, I've met lots of great and interesting people around that fire pit. Of course there is the grill at the store that always has good food at a reasonable price. Anything in Fontana Village is nice. Rooms in the hotel ran $99 a night last time I stayed there but were really nice, cabins ran about a $120 a night last time I stayed in them. There is also a very nice restaurant (expensive) and a grill (kind of high but not ridiculous.) I also recommend Dock's Motel in Townsend, TN. Though it is 28 miles from Tabcat Bridge (the beginning of Deal's Gap) it is only 7 miles from the Foothills Parkway which is a great ride and takes up 18 of those 28 miles. Hospitality is second to none, Bill and Sharron are super nice people, I think the rates there are about $30 a night and include a kitchen in your room. That's three good places off the top of my head and there are several more, please feel free to PM me about any other questions that you may have about the area.
Two Wheel Inn down in Robbinsville NC is an awesome place to stay! 20 miles south of the Dragon on 129, and its a nice 20 mile warmup in the morning on your way to the gap. The Inn is only 70 bucks a night for 2 people, and you get a nice little garage big enough for 2 bikes. Very cool! Also a good location because there are gas stations, fast food, etc nearby.

Sigma Cycle longer dogbone will lower rear of bike 1 1/2". Obviously fork tubes should be brought up through tripletrees 1 1/2". This was easy for me since I also went with the Sigma bar risers. Also installed Sigma shorter kickstand which is an absolute must unless you are going to saw off the kickstand yourself. I did the triangle flip at the same time which lowered the rear an extra 3/4". Really bad idea; way too low. Rotated triangle back to stock setting. I am 5'7" with a 30" inseam. Bike is perfect for me now. The cheapest thing would be to rotate rear link triangle 120 degrees clockwise. Plenty of great threads for this. Rotating triangle will lower rear 3/4", pretty significant, and then bring tubes up 3/4" in front. This will lower bike 3/4" and probably still allow you to use side stand.
I lowered my 04 with a homemade adjustable dogbone. I think I got it down 2.5 - 3.0 inches in the rear. I only went 1.5 in the front due to the fear of bumping fender to body. The centerstand is no longer useful though. I did cut and re-weld the side stand. I had to take it down to the tit. It rides great!!! I have to go EXTREMELY slow over speed bumps though. Other than that, there are no worries. I am only 5'6" and ?? inseam (no clue). The heel of my foot is now only 1/4" off the ground now. I could only touch with the tips of my toes at stock height. SCARY!!!

With your rear that much lower than the front steering and turn in will not be as crisp. When I had rear lowered over 2" I was even hitting bottom on some pot holes. But if it works for you that's all that counts. Ride on but be careful of those speed bumps and pot holes.
