Exhaust

I am wondering, what will be the best sounding exhaust system for my VFR? I like the looks of the Two Brothers exhaust. What would you guys purchase as an exhaust slip-on for your bike or have purchased? I would like something with a nice loud growling sound. Would the Two Brothers slip-ons give me that or would I need to look toward another brand? Looking to hear from you guys, I up all night at work.

All I can add, since you have a VTEC, is to avoid a system with one dummy can. (TBR)

My thinking is that if you're spending big money on an aftermarket exhaust, half of it shouldn't be fake.

Well I love my TBR, sounds like a juiced up 350 and since installing the scorpio alarm and losing my tool storage, the "fake" can holds my toolkit, disclock, wallet, mp3, and phone. Good for around town when you dont want to use a tankbag. Just my $0.02

I really love my LV CF pipes. They have removable baffles you can take out to give them a few more dB. I will be honest and say that when I first put them on and fired up the bike I was a little disappointed. They had more volume and a MUCH better sound but I would have like a little more noise :biggrin:

But here is the good news. After a couple months of riding they are CONSIDERABLY louder! I really love the sound and volume. I have a few videos posted with some sound clips when I first got them and there are some other really good ones on youtube. You pretty much just have to search "VFR + whatever exhaust you are considering."

It is a personal taste and how much you want to spend on the pipes.

Does D&D make a kit for the 6th generation VFR?

Can you cut down the midpipe before it gets to the y pipe to shorten the amount of exhaust that sticks out the back? I dont know who far back my hard bags are going to stick but I would not want my exhaust sticking out past them very much.

Most mufflers made for the VFR will have the standard bracket attached to the can to mount it to the undertail. What you wish to do would require some custom modifications. So the answer is yes if you are willing to pay for it. Chances are though you will end up having to cut down the length of the muffler itself to achieve your goals which will make it louder. Your best bet is to take it to a professional and see what ideas they can come up with.

The best sounding pipes? They on are the top shelf sandwiched between the best tires and the best oil. :warranty:

Gutted stock exhaust + catless headers. Cheaper then any aftermarket slip-ons you'll find, and you'll be making more power, too! :-D

+1. That combination is beautiful. Plus you can customize how you gut your exhaust to fine tune your sound. You can do a full gut, or a partial gut, and vary the amount of sound that you want.

Obviously this question is completely subjective, you should go to a VFRD event and just listen to other's exhausts.

Regarding the TBR pipes, I honestly think that a good single pipe system can flow as much as a dual pipe system.

Mine sounds the best but you can't have it ;p

Staintunes are very pricey, but as far as quality workmanship and materials are concerned they are unbeatable.

They never need maintenance or repacking, they sound wonderful, and being that they are made from aircraft grade stainless they will always keep their brilliant shine with minimal care.

Occasionally you can find a set for sale here on VFR-D, which would be the way to go since they don't wear out, and the price has gone way up since they were first introduced for the 6th generation.

JTG you did a more invasive version of what my original idea is.. only problem is you have the tig i need to do it.. oh yea and I live on the east coast now.. if i lived in 29stumps still there would be a little road trip on the list of weekend priorities.

I just put on a carbon fiberTwo Brothers VALE Dual Slip-On Exhaust on my 03 VFR($749.00 on ebay). The first time i started it was even better than i expected. I also had a 2000 with cardon fiber two brothers anniversary addition. Everyone commented on how nice that sounded. I guess i would always get two brothers for the VFR.

+1 on the 2Bros Carbon, they look the best IMHO and sound great!

Do you have hard bags or plan to get them? Not all pipes fit with hard bags.

Yes, I do have the OEM Honda bags. Yes they do fit. But you have to slide the pipes inward a little.

Yeah, as many answers as owners. But I did have 2Bros stash and my friend had Leo Vince. The LV sounded much nicer. Mine weren't bad. But I don't like loud exhaust, so I sold mine and I'm going back to stock. But if I had to start from scratch, LV would be my choice (nice V8 growl). Why not check out Youtube for sound samples? Staintunes sound fantastic from the seat but can sound a bit metallic to people on the roadside. They become a bit more mellow over time due to carbon buildup.

Carbon fibre pipes (true CF, not CF-wrapped aluminium) sound rich and mellow, unless they are D&D, in which case they sound LOUD and a bit unrefined.

Aluminium is somewhere in between.

The Staintunes for the Vtec give a nice V8-like idle and a good bark with some revs up, but are quiet enough to keep neighbours and the pol-eece happy. I believe they aren't cheap in the US though - in Oz (where they are made) they are almost the cheapest on the market. Exchange rates, taxes and all that.

I love my devil pipes.....fit and finish were great.... sound is great.... no complaints.... customer service was great in dealing with ordering issue... arrived on time and as promised ;p
