So on the weekend I was riding on my first ride with my new toy (03 VFR) and I was stopped next to a buddy on his heavily modified CBR F4 and noticed that our triple clamps are nearly identical other than the fact that the CBR triple is matte black. Any chance that is a direct swap ? Mine is scratched due to the previous owner letting multiple keys bang around and I love the idea of a black triple.

Actually, that's only half true. You can install the complete F4/F4i triple on a 6th gen, but, the offset is not the same.
http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/%201.gif Seb is correct, they do NOT have the same offset so you can not exchange pieces between them. I think the F4i is around 30mm and the VFR 38-39mm, but I've seen 43mm advertised which is wrong! :dry:
Here's both, F4i on top. You can see that the center line of the stem is much closer to the tube center line(offset).

The quality of the aluminum used is not high enough AFAIK.
I tried to have some of my "aluminum" bike parts anodized, and the guy that does the anodizing looked at the part and told me it was indeed "mostly" aluminum, but with a bunch of other recycled metals in the mix too. Some form of Pot Metal basically.
He said that if he tried to anodize it, it would come out all icky looking, he's tried it before on other parts with awful looking results.
To have the anodizing work properly and look nice, the part has to be PURE aluminum.
