My Second Week With My 02 Vfr

Had a fun but brief week with my 02 Fiery Italian Red VFR. But as I wrote on my blog... last Friday, I kinda... err... bumped into one of our Veep's shiny Toyota Prius in the parking lot.
Yep. An 'accident'. Me, walking my bike backwards, engine off, scraped a noticable amount of paint off the left rear quarter panel of my boss' boss' car. I, of course, approached her about it and confessed.

Her reply? "Oh, it's no big deal. It's not like it's a new car or anything. Don't worry about it. I would have been furious if you didn't tell me." And over the weekend, she said her husband didn't care about it, so I'm off the hook.

Do I have the best boss ever, or what?

Last night, I was Jonesin' for a little ride; as much as I love to carpool wif Missus Donnie1967 in our 2004 VW convertible turbo, I needed to twist the throttle. I went out and toured the NE part of Seattle, including Sand Point Way, Magnuson Park (including a 30 minute slow-tight-corner figure '0' practice session).

Also, I received my 02 Honda VFR owner's manual, and apparently regarding the high temperature, the engine is fine as long as it's below 250F. THEN the warning lights kick in and you should stop and have it looked at. Don't think I've ever seen it above 222F in my 200 miles of happy ownership thus far.

If your boss is hot, I think you should at the minimum offer her a ride on the back.

She's not exactly hot, but she's a very nice, pleasant lady, probably about my age.
Also failed to note that my wife and I work under the same roof, albeit in different areas completely different concerns of the same business (she a technical recruiting and me just tech geek)

:excl: And just this morning two other women saw my motorcycle when I parked it and they said essentially the same thing:

"Lovely bike! My husband wants one, but I say eff no to that!" So I've got a great boss and wife! :blush:
I guess things may be different when you have children - motorcycling becomes a very low priority/need for dads. :blink:

Nice review, and welcome to the VFR. I read your blog. Your fan will almost always kick the temperature right down, I've never gotten above 225. But there's nothing to worry about, the bike will run fine up to 240 or so.

As far as the hot grips go. Heated grips are wonderful even in the summer if you ride in the morning, late at night, or in the rain. I wouldn't get rid of them just yet.

HI Ryan, thanks for the comments. I started my seattle-motorcycles blog about 18 months ago, when I started looking at craigslist motorcycle for sale listings like 10 times a day to see what good stuff came up. Well, since I bought a motorcycle, I will probably change my blog's focus to ... well, all things Interceptor now.

The dealer 'unplugged' the heated grips, since they were hotwired to the battery. Folks came by, turned the heated grips on, and left 'em on. Battery died every other day because of it. I've not had the inclination to root around and wire 'em back up yet.

And riding in the rain... that reminds me of the 90's when I was a poor student and commuted on my EX500. Now that I have the choice I doubt I'll be riding much (if at all) voluntarily when it's raining. :blush:

I can't believe you just put that in writing! You damaged her car and now you're calling her unattractive? I've fired someone for less than that.

Donnie, not to worry about this crew! If you had said she was hot then you would hear about that too. Just smile and wait, you will get a chance to chime in with a snappy comment after a while when you know who can be kidded or not. When Sebspeed holds an event I get to be in charge of snappy comments, so, see there is a place for everyone :laugh: Welcome here. BTW, My boss parks his car so far away from the office from fear that someone will open a door near it that he should just walk to work. (And it is just an ordinary car, not like it is a Ferrari or something) I can't imagine if something like that happened to him.
