Well, I sprung for a Power Commander III USB for my '04 VFR about a week ago, installed it and man-o-live what a difference! I should mention that my scooter is completely stock, no aftermarket parts on the engine or exhaust. I was suffering the throttle chop as well as the 4.5-5k stumble, and I really wanted to do something about it. So from what I've picked up on from others on this site I went for the PC3usb in hopes of fixing the problem.
Once I got it I installed the PC3usb software on the computer, uploaded Cozye's map to it, installed the .99 cent Radio Shack resistors, and installed the PC3 on the bike. When I first fired it up it idled a little high, but it ran smooth so I figured everything was good and I'd just adjust it later after putting the bike back together. After reassembly, I fired it up again for a test ride and this time the idle was in the 1,200 rpm range so I left it alone, took it for a test spin and holy crap what a difference, it was like night and day! The bike runs perfectly throughout the whole range. No stumble, hardly any throttle chop. What a treat! It runs the way it should. Hey wait a minute, shouldnt Honda should be paying for this?
Anyways, just want to give a shout out to Cozye, thanks for the map and the pics for making/installing the O2 eliminators, also to everyone else whos offered input on the topic, very useful information in helping me make the decision. Cozye suggested that if someone should find his map useful if they could possibly make a donation to VFRD well today I did just that, money well spent IMHO.
Oh and since the PC3usb install, my mileage is running fairly consistent at 44mpg. I know, probably not cranking on it enough eh?
The whole project was sweet easy success! Thanks again guys.
