Strange Putt Putt Noise After Flapper Mod

Hi guys got a strange putt putt noise sounds almost like a a very small backfore coming from the airbox it actually sounds like someone flicking the top of a jam jar
only happens it low revs say between 1500-2000 rpm does not happen at tickover
its only happened since ive done the airbox and flapper valve mod I thought it waf the flapper opening then flapping shit bit ive screwed it open so its not that
any ideas ?????????

Did you plug the vacum hose? And did you also de-snorkle the airbox too?
I found that when I would crack the throttle, the sound was kinda like I was gettin' ready to hork a luggie........... :blush:
Now, my throat is clear and I really don't hear it no more. :491:

Yes ive de snookled and plugged the vacum hose if it had done any miles id say it was as it had a plug out but a 3500miles thats fairly unlikely ??????????????????

sounds like your pair solenoid,, under fuel tank,, i believe the connector has orange and green wires..try unpluging and see ... it's just an antipollution device.
i'm experimenting with mine now.. the sound and running condition was driving me nuts...

are you sure that it is not, in fact, a "small back fire" coming from the air box?
by removing the snorkel and flapper, you have significantly lowered the intake's air velocity at low revs. removing them will cause slightly worse fueling at low engine speeds, because thats what they were put in there for, to promote higher intake velocity and clean up the bottom end.
by the way, i too, have a modded airbox and have noticed the ocassional hicups that you are discribing...
i think a power commander and a good tune would probably clean it up.
