Has anyone tried these out yet on there 6th gen? I am getting ready to order a set after work today and kinda wanted some feedback, how did they fit? how did they look? and did you really get them in the 15-20 days that they claim to get them to ya from Hong Kong, thanks guys!

Most of what I've heard about these kits isn't good. Overall, it seems, fit and finish aren't all that great (and don't forget, they're not gonna give you a matching gas tank.)

Well I ordered a set, I guess I will try it out myself, I been searching alot here on the forum and other places, no one that I can find on this forum actually says they bought these? Lots said they were going to, but never posted later about it. I ordered the set with the gas tank cover, I hope it works out, the Repsol kit looks very nice, so I guess we will find out soon.

Here's some people who ordered from Nice Cycle...
One person said they did, and started fitting them, and ran into snags. I know I bought a windshield from Ebay from a place that makes them...not even close to a correct fit.
One of my cooworkers put a set on his CBR1000 and after a week of California freeways, he showed me where a rock penetrated one of the fairings. He said they were way too thin.
Good for you! I've been curious about these kits as well. I keep hoping to find a trashed viffer for cheap so I can rebuild it with one of these kits. I half assume that the Fitment problems come from peoples inexperience in panel replacement. Guess we'll find out when you give us the feedback (with photos!!).

Oh there will be photos! I like pics, so no problem there. I am a huge fan of the repsol graphics and even a bigger fan of orange, so I just cant wait. I need to sell my stock fairings on egay now! But thanks for the link on VFR World, I have never been on that forum
You may have to redrill some of the holes, or drill them out. Not a huge issue for the price, but let us know! You can get the whole kit for the price of one fairing.
I know mine is not for a 6th gen but, I got a CBR600RR body kit (and headlight) from DELKEVIC off ebay for my FV750 build.(yes I had to to a lot of tweaking to get a good fit, but it was not made for a 4th gen), the material is a little stiffer than OEM but about same thickness, all the mounting tabs look OEM and all body panels did line up together. It is plenty strong. (after it was all together the darn bike fell over on a curb, it did scuff it up, but it did hold together.)
I just helped a guy I met a few months ago (laid off and time to kill), fit a set to his cbr900rr, (these were un painted, he is going to have the paint done here) I cannot say any thing about the quality of their paint. but this cbr900rr was basically pretty rough, I think every piece of the stock body work was broken some place. I had to tweak some of the brackets to get the pieces to fit and line up correctly, but I think this came from the original damage to the bike and not poor manufacture of the new plastics.
In the end we took our time and the fit was very good and all the seam lines came out very nice and even (and I am really picky about panel fit), as far as the quality of the parts, they seemed right on par with the thickness of some ninja 650r body panels we had near to hand, and they seemed just as flexible. I have had a lot of experience with large abs panels at my last job (they were used as the cosmetic covers for our machines) and I learned that it is a good idea to reinforce (plastic welder epoxy and fiber glass chopped mat) at the points where the plastics are mounted and have a place where they have a deep inside corner.
we spent about an hour reinforcing all these spots. just to add integrity to these spots (this I would recommend even on oem parts when they are installed) it goes a long way to make the covers more durable. we also added a few more spots of heat insulation after seeing a few places that we thought could use some based on the condition of the originals where they looked like they had been hot.
I will try to get a few pics after the paint is done (he is having a honda replica paint job done on this bike, to look like Spensers nr500 1981 bike, kinf odd but it should be pretty cool) and it is costing a lot more than $100 like add a zero+, this may be a while his hours at work got cut back some. But I think based on this experience that they are a good deal and can make a very nice looking bike.
One thing to consider is the price of their paint jobs, this set was only about $100 bucks less un painted, so their paint jobs are a pretty cheap paint job. Even Earl Schibe can't paint a car for $99.95 any more.
I think one problem some folks may have is not having the patience and mechanical skill to fit a full set of body work correctly, you can make the oem plastics on a vfr look pretty bad if you just throw them on and do not take your time.

Well they said they would be here before the 30th of this month and looks like there scheduled to be here tomorrow, so I will have these here and ready for fitting this weekend. Pics and info will be on the way!

Ok, I have not had a chance to take any pics, but I will give out a little detail, parts came as promised today, paint on the looks amazing, very satisfied with that. Now my bad experience, the left fairing that goes around the kick stand, that small end with a mounting tab broke off in shipping, things happen and it can be repaired easily as I do my own repairs and fiberglassing. I emailed the guy I got them from to see what can be done, als stated in the auction was a free windscreen and tank pad, they were in there, but tank pad said "CBR" and the windscreen is nothing near a fit for the VFR, not sure what it goes to. Also I did get that exact tank cover. I will be taking my time and installing these tomorrow, pics will be soon. But so far overall I am impressed, especially for the money, I was more worried nothing would show up.

Uhhh, I'm sure it will be soon for me, too. I've already had more "luck" than one person deserves.
I used one of these companies for the Ducati 1098 tail I got for my 86 VFR project. They allowed me to buy the tail + solo cover only, instead of the whole kit, and they let me get it unpainted too. Ducati wants over $1000(yes, REALLY!!) for the tail section alone. These guys sold me the tail, plus solo cover, for $125 shipped. The first tail I got was sent not in a box, but merely wrapped in white packing foam. Needless to say, it was cracked in a few places! *However* I emailed them right away, and they replied that while it would take a few weeks to make another special order, that they would replace it gratis and ship it in a box. All I had to do was send a few pics to prove the old one was cracked, and they sent the new one.

I am SOOOOO glad to see someone do this and post the pics. I have been considering one of the repsol kits for a long time. I don't care about the tank cover as I have a black bagster tank cover on it that hides the Red / White / Blue tank. Your set looks really good. which vendor did you get it from on ebay?

My 03 has been wrecked twice. I have struggled with the cost of fairings and I have wondered if I would even keep the bike long term. Well, I have resolved that I will keep it and so I decided to fix the scratches. I just ordered this:

I like how mine came out! I get lots of compliments on it too. Not everything fit perfectly, but it's good enough for me. I like to ride my bike, not sit and stare at it. I'll get to the wheels eventually if at all. I have also added Radar's sliders since getting them and they cut very easily. I was surprised when the plastic was white instead of black.
One more thing, I ordered mine on a Thursday and they got to me in ten days on the following Saturday! I was amazed.

I am getting excited~!! I have been out of town since Monday, but tracking data says they are waiting for me at home. It should be a nice weekend with no other obligations so I have a shock to install on my track bike and hopefully fairings in good shape to put on the VFR. :cool:

I'm glad you mentioned the tab thing. The mechanic that put mine on, reinforced all the little tabs on the upper cowl because they are kind of half assed. He used some type of resin/plastic weld and beefed them up. Cruzinaz might know what it was called. My oem rear cowl also does not fit perfectly and is very snug where the front tabs go in. Luckily I don't take the seat off alot!

From what someone told me: there is a basically a huge warehouse selling car, motorcycle parts, electronics, etc. and a bunch of guys sit in a room running ebay accounts. The more they sell, the more they make. So that is why all the stuff on ebay looks the same because it is. The sellers are responsible for their own ads/postings, but they're all working for the same manufacturing outfit. I chose Timmy because his rep was super high and answered all my questions fairly and quickly. I was very surprised I didn't run into any snags and all the parts were intact upon arrival.

So I pulled it out of the box and treid to start with the tank as I guessed it to be the hardest to fit. I didn't even make it past this :( The rear didn't fit right and cracked when I pushed it down

I'd live with it, but I couldn't get it over the tank rear first/front first/just didn't matter. I have emailed Heymen....We'll see what he says do.

this definitely helped, but it still doesn't fit....now it has a crack on the front left edge of the tank :pissed:
i noticed it has strips of ABS along each edge on the inside of the tank for strength. it is almost as if the cover touches those strips on the tank and won't go any further. then the lip is not completely seated (by about 1/8")....
we'll see what customer service they have now
After my accident last i was considering one of these kits some from Ebay ( TM All rights reserved ) ( dont want to get sued lol ) but I went with OEM and I checked with the local dealer here and they where about 550.00 just for the lower fairing I went to http://www.hondapart...CFRsVawodSQxVZQ for 355.00 but then again I wanted OEM and shipping when I ordered was free fit perfect and after the surgery to my shoulder and wrist where complete and was cleared to ride by doc stayed on nice and tight

So, instead of riding today, I decided to make a go on all the other parts to see how it worked...I end the day defeated.... :mad:
I will repost/retract the following if they handle this in some absolutely AMAZING way, but I am not holding my breath....
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THE EBAY/CHINESE FAIRINGS FOR OUR BIKE
1. The SHAPE of the plastic is fine. I cant say that their molds are bad.
2. The paint is a 6 if Honda is a 10. It would work for me and be better than anything I could do, but you would never mistake it for Honda.
3. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE ENTIRE PROCESS IS THE MOUNTING POINTS. THEY:
DO NOT ALWAYS POINT THE RIGHT DIRECTION
DO NOT HAVE THREADED INSERTS ON THE MAJORITY OF MOUNT POINTS
OFTEN HAVE TO BE SHAVED/BENT/MOVED TO MAKE IT WORK

I believe that with the way the mounting points are, that if you removed the plastics a couple of times you would break or ream out many of them and end up with additional headaches.
With the tank cover having cracked, I have almost given up. a $500 stupid tax. At this point, I wish I had bought the front fairing (most damaged) for the same price and simply lived with the minor rash on the other parts.
I would appreciate it if anyone who has utilized these products would correct me and explain where I am wrong and what I can do to use the products. Even if they don't replace the tank cover, I could still make a go with what I have, but the fastener/mounting point issue is not one I know how to fix.

Wow! The sixth gen kits are so different than the fifth gen ones. Maybe the supplier was different for yours than mine too. I had a very good motorcycle mechanic mount my plastics and he reinforced the tabs, but they were basically in the right location to begin with. I had the lower fairings off the day after I got my bike back to install Radars sliders and had no problems putting everything back together. If you could get your tank painted, why not go that route?
In all, I spent about $1500 having the plastics bought, installed, and tank and seat cowl painted. I also think the paint quality is pretty decent on my plastics.

Well all of this is not encouraging at all, my kit (from a seller called yes2yeah) is about 2 or so weeks away now, its almost completed construction and will ship soon. Heres hoping my luck is a little better ! :blush:

touch up paint
they also said that the tank would expand and elongate such that even thought around 5mm of tank are showing after i put it on, 2 or 3 days later, it should "grow" to cover it.....does anyone think this is so?
once i heat it, put it on and leave it for a little while, it will obviuosly harden and i won't be able to get it off without breaking it, so if it doesn't "grow", i am screwed....thoughts?

I don't know about that tank adjusting. From the pics, it looks like the section around the gas cap is off by a cm. or more. Give it yer best try though with heat. If it doesn't go on, can you just get the original painted instead?

i retried and with more heat, was able to get it down further, so the pictures dont exactly show how close it was. we'll see.
i want to wait and see what the mounting posts look like first before i even bother. this is now going to be a slow go job where i had hoped to simply get it done one weekend.
i'll end up using them and painting the tank or making the cover work....just not sure when i'll get to it.
then i'll remove the old plastics and get them fixed and repainted too...just takes two things no one has enough of....time and money :biggrin:

I have a silly question, can you use a magnetic tank bag with the tank cover/skin?
Well my kit is here and I am still dubious. They screwed up the prep instructions I sent them ... I asked for the following ...
I have requested silver stickers, 1 set on each side of the tank with the Honda "wing" logo
And one set on either side of the left and right fairing at the very bottom edge in silver also with "HONDA"
And I got a "VFR" along the top of the side fairings and no "HONDA" ... pics will follow.
Also the paint is really light and they definitely paint top down leaving all the edges unpainted.
I am worried that the matte black wont stand the test of time based on the light paint and fact that you cant buff a matte paint job so after a little testing I am going to go over all of the fairings with a Testors Dullcoat spray matte clear coat used for modeling.
I have borrowed a heat gun from a friend and I will be tackling the install over the weekend, pics and results will be coming ... wish me luck :cheerleader:

I'm interested in these as well. For the price, it seems you can't go wrong compared to factory bodywork. I've never seen any aftermarket bodywork that could compare to the OEM stuff. And the VFR OEM bodywork redefined "fit and finish" when the Gen5 came out. We are talking apples and oranges here. Nothing is going to compare with the OEM when it comes to fit and finish -or PRICE (ouch!).
Bodywork fitting has ALWAYS been difficult fussy work. Some people just don't have the mechanical aptitude combined with the infinite patience to make it work. It's a lot of tedious, backbreaking work to position this stuff on the bike and it makes you respect the hard work Honda put into the quality control in their own bodywork. But it comes at a horribly high price!
From what I've heard, this stuff fits together fairly well with the other parts it comes with. The issue is fitting it onto the bike. That's the hard part. But once you get it together and mounted correctly it's not bad with each successive removal/reinstall after that for maintenance -but not as "easy" as the stock plastic (which can also be a PITA!) So bear in mind that if you take the bike into a mechanic to be worked on you might get dinged by a wrench who gets pissed off at these and adds extra labor charges to what the book says for any job you have done. I wouldn't blame them.
But for the price, and if you have an older bike you are trying to restore and don't want to spend more on plastic than the bike is worth these might be a great option to finding and repairing used scratch&dent OEM bodywork. That is also a difficult and fussy job -especially if some of the sub-frame and mounting parts have been tweaked a little bit. Anyone who has ever tried to deal with a slightly bent front fairing frame/stay knows what I'm talking about. The Honda bodywork doesn't fit as nice after a bike has been down unless all these parts have been replaced (expensive) and even then it is fussy getting it back to perfect factory specs again.
I would like to see more pics of these installed and hear more reports from people who have bought and put these one. The pics I've seen look GOOD on the monitor. But it doesn't take a lot to look good on the monitor. My own repaint job looks GOOD in pictures but when you look up close and personal you can tell it isn't up to the quality, fit, and finish of the OEM.

this is all very interesting, as the wife & i are buying a 2nd 6th gen that needs some love. we were seriously considering these after market fairings, please let us know how you go.
