I have VFR 800 '04 version with Staintune's and K&N air filter, cat is still in. Power commander 3 on the way. I live in Ireland so VFR is the EU version if such a thing exists...
My problem is this, I have tried unpluging the solenoid that controls PAIR valve (picture 1- I'm pointing at it), after I rode the bike, I noticed it was backfiring at 5k RPM when I backed off the throttle.
I plugged the PAIR valve back in.
Then I blocked the feeder tube from the airbox to the solenoid with the plastic bag (Picture 2) as suggested in one of the PAIR Valve Removal posts, the bike started to run differently. Not bad, but different. Idle speed went down from 1400 to just 1000 RPM. But the engine was running like it was struggling or there was some resistance, it didn't feel right.
My question is there something I did wrong or did I miss something? Do I need the power commander or re-tune starter valves? I am mechanically minded and do most of my own servicing just never did much tuning before.
