I hit the rev limiter about 5 times at the last track day, come around the big right hander onto the quartermile strait and hit about 140 before I would punch the brakes at the 3rd marker and shift down 2 gears and lean into turn one at 80mph. Geez that was fun!
there's a few really flat really long stretches of highway up here. on my commute at 5:30 in the morning, no one on the road, sun just risen, i've run it right up to the edge. to be honest, i'm not sure that i ever actually hit the rev limiter in 6th, but i've taken as close as the viffer is ever going to get my fat side.

There should be a "Ran out of road" option I've done an estimated (174ish indicated -15%) 148 and I think she had a little more. I'm down a tooth on the front sporcket too.

Running 43/16 on a 5th gen should get you about 158 at 11,500. That's a wee bit faster than the bike will run at 11,500 in 5th (151) with the stock gearing.

I doubt that you can pull the limiter in top gear on the fifth gen. Can't speak for the Vtec, but I doubt that as well. By the way, my '99 topped out at 149 on the GPS. I wasn't looking at the tach. :wow: On the track, I'm pretty slow. At Moroso, I never got over 4th gear. That was good for just over 100, I think. At Jennings I never even broke 99. I even did several laps without shifting. Just stuck it in 3rd, and left it there. Kev :blues:

Nope. Wind resistance takes its toll.
Whew. Six folks claimed to have run to 11.5 in 6th. To manage that with stock gearing would require NOX. I'm pretty sure my vtec, much as I love it, won't run much over 150 in 5th and probably won't get over the low 140s in 6th.
The fastest I've ever gone is 100mph indicated for only a couple seconds. I once got my Shadow up to 100. It took years to get there and I was afraid it was gonna die as it was desperately sputtering and shaking.
Someday I'd like to go to the track, mebbe I'll find out there.
Miguel, remember last spring, when 6 VFRs rode up Coal Creek Canyon to Wondervu and then back through Golden Gate Park? And remember how me and one other rider (Matt a/k/a Jarhead, or was it Bill?) pulled away on Hwy 93? Well, we only got up to about 130 before having to turn off the road. I only mention it because I gave a wave to a MC going the other way, and nearly got yanked off the bike from the wind hitting my arm. Don't want to go any faster than that! Larry

LOL. I used to have a Shadow Spirit, and I still remember slowly winding it up to 100 mph. Took a while to get there.
But crack the throttle on the VFR and you'll be hitting 100 in third gear, in less than a 1/4 mile from a standing start.
It's effortless, and it'll become much more common in time.
I tried to go couple of time up to 130mph which is not however the top. Also,there are not enough long straight roads without trafic where I ride ~~~~~. Am too scared of other cars doing stupid things (like going only 70mph).

Yep. �Too common!. �The interstate speed limit outside of town around here is 75mph. � It's nothing to roll it on, passing a slow RV, and find yourself doing an indicated 100 before you know it. � Whoops. �Also, them pesky freeway onramps invite excessive speeds. �When I'm feeling squirrely, I'll hit 95mph before approaching the merge. �I always drop right back down for fear of our friends in blue and for respect of the slower, right-lane pace.
I've never hit 11,500rpm in top gear. �The closest I came was about 137mph indicated, with more left before, I ran out of road and nerve.
When I had my 94, I hit 160 on the speedo in BFE of the Olympic Penninsula. The bike had a jet kit and exhaust, but you also have to account for one tooth down in the front and the normal speedo error. It might have been at 130 tops, but she still had a little pull before I looked down, saw 160 and nearly shit my pants. My wife would kill me if she ever knew. :goof:
I actually used to ride the speed limit. I thought that it was due to the fact that I was simply an obedient person who followed the rules. Now that I have the VFR, I realize that it had everything to do the bike I was riding! The VFR begs me to cruise at 80 indicated at least. The acceleration is so smooth... :bow:

You have to come out so we can hook up for a ride. HWY 112 from Port Angeles is a twisty dream and goes all the way out to Neah Bay. Plus, there has been a new surface applied last year. She is smooth and fast.
Let me know when you can make it out. I am in the coast guard and will return to PA in a few weeks. Fingers crossed for good weather.
I live in flat South Florida, nothing to do here but top speed runs.

I want to modify my choice. I don't remember if I've seen 11500 but I have been flatout numerous times. With a little tailwind it will run 166. That would appear to be real close to the 149 the mag tests reported. There's no way mine would redline in 6th with the original sprockets.
