Ok last night before I pick the new bike up, I was lucky it was not today, a rotten day full of rain. Tomorrow is meant to be better. The plan is to be at the dealers for 9.30. All the paper work is done. So really just to go through the usual 'this is were the keys go routine' then we will be on our way.
The weather looks like the mid to east of Scotland is a better bet, we probably will head for Tyndrum and have lunch at the green welly. I think i have given every new bike a run up there as part of the running in routine. Good mixture of roads and a great lunch.
It will be a two up riding day so a real chance to see how it is going to work out for distance touring. Should be posting a good few photo's tomorrow and my first report.
Sorry for the post but it is Xmas eve ain't it!!!!!

Very true, it rained on my 1st test ride before I bought my 05, but I'm led to believe that's just good luck... and so far, it's the longest I've ever owned a bike. :)
June 12, 1985, I took the day off to pick up my new R. A friends wife offered to take me over to the Honda shop. It was pouring. We did all the paper work and the salesman says " It will be a little while before we can deliver it." I laughed, "I'm taking it now thanks." He looked out the window then back at me, window, me, etc... "Are you sure?" "Never more sure in my life" as my helmet slipped on. Did about 100 miles before spending a few hours running a towel over her beautiful curves, waxing her up, cutting off reflectors...rain on pick up day is good luck.

Rained the day I picked up my '95... and then I almost dropped it off the truck, the boards I was using for ramps were wet and super slick
Was snowing when I picked up my 83 VF750F and raining the day I picked up my 07 VFR800. Both times the night before felt just like Christmas Eve when I was a kid. VFR is a great bike and the 750F is still in my garage, though now owned by my GF since she fell in love with it around the time I was going to sell it. Good luck and enjoy.
Yup, bought my Honda Hawk GT from a dealership (used) & rode it home - in the remnants of a hurricane. Good memories. That was in 1996, and I still have it.
I think it's a good sign to ride a bike home in the rain (although I also enjoyed the nice long sunny ride home when I bought my VFR, a couple of states away). (I still have that one as well.)
I get that Christmas Eve feeling the night before big rides or trips. ;)
No rain or snow, but it was in the 30sF the mid-March day I picked up my 1st adult motorcycle a few years ago, and I didn't have any real cold weather gear. I was so excited I hardly noticed I was freezing! :laugh:
