My 07 is running at about 5-6% too fast, not as bad as my VTx was, but still wrong. Fortunately for me I try not to get too worried abotu what the speedo says, I just ride how I want most of the time as out here I go miles and miles between meeting other vehicles most of thetime.
Speedo is 6%-12% fast, odometer is just about spot on. :rolleyes:
If it is important to you, you can get a speedo healer and make the speedo correct and the odometer read low, or have set it in the middle of the two and be pretty close on both.
per GPS.....my 03 speedo shows a PLUS 7 mph reading with stock gearing, so 67 mph on an actual 60 mph speed bone stock.....with changed gearing (-1 in front plus 2 on rear) it now shows a PLUS 10 mph reading with this gearing change , so 70 mph on an actual 60 mph speed.

I was off about 8%. I picked up a speedo healer at the same time as my gear indicator. Both are REALLY easy to install.
When I exit the 110 fwy in chinatown everyday there is a radar facing the vehicles exiting the freeway onto the surface street. The speed showing up on the radar reads about 5mph higher than the speedo on my bike. If the posted radar reading says 35, my bikes speedo says 30.
I've always figured my speedo was showing faster than I was going. It always seemed that to drive about the same sped relative to everyone else as I do in my car or truck the bike had to be going about 7-8mph faster according to my speedo. I got a warning for speeding last weekend traveling through downtown Atlanta. I was riding to be passing most of the cars on the road like you should in heavy interstate traffic. My speedo said I was doing about 90 mph most of the time. A GA HWP trooper sitting on an on ramp got me. He told me he got me at 82 mph.
I can't believe I got a warning for 82 in a 55 on a Holiday weekend. I thought for sure I was getting the big ticket to the tune of $400+ since GA recently passed an excessive speeding fine that the state tacks onto local fines for anything 20+ mph over. The new extra state fines of course have nothing to do with safety and is a means for the state to make up its budgetary shortfall during this recession.
The odometer is off. I've run the trip meter on my GPS against the bikes trip meter several times. How far its off depends on how fast you were riding. My speedo is a pretty consistent 10% off. When I've checked the odometer against the GPS at fifty miles sometimes the bike reads 51.4ish and sometimes it reads 55 point something.
Actually I'm not sure why that is. All I know is what I've seen.
