Looking At This 07 Anniversary Edition

I've been on here for a little bit, and now I'm finally seriously looking at getting my own VFR. I've been looking at the 07 Anniversary Editions for a couple of months now, and finally decided I'm ready to take the plunge (with encouragement from my fiance). I was looking at one on Long Island for $8300 w/ABS. But after attempting to contact the dealer twice via their website and getting automatic responses, I gave up. Plus I found one significantly cheaper. Here's the eBay link. http://cgi.ebay.com/...d=p4506.c0.m245 It's also an Anniv. edition w/ABS, but they're only asking $6999, a savings of $1300 over the other one. What makes it a little more of a pain is the fact that it's in PA, 5 hours away. So I would have to rent a van to bring my R6 there (for trade) and bring back the VFR. But it's worth it. It's what I want at a great price.

Anyway, my point is I'm just looking for some feedback on it. It's almost one of those "sounds too good to be true" deals. But I talked to a salesman on the phone and it seems legit.

The bike is offered by the dealer, so It's gotta be legit.
If you want to save some cash, do not do the trade-in thing.
They'll probably rape you on the trade-in value.
Since the season is almost over, I would take my time and sell the R6 first and then buy the VFR.
If the 1200 model comes out, the 6th gen will become even cheaper.

5 hours is nothing! Go get that baby. And if the dealer will give you at least "trade in" on your R6, do it (depending on the condition). R6's are a dime a dozen right now (no offense) and they are going cheap and hard to sell this time of year unless you give them away.

This is my first time back to this board in a couple years. I've been riding SV650's. I had a red 05 VRF and sold it. Now I regret selling it. I'm going to poke around to see if I can get anything cheaper, used, but hard to pass up a new 07 for 6K

That's a killer price! And Even with R6's going for a dime a dozen, you can still probably get more for selling it cheap on Craigslist than the dealer will give you. If I were you I'd sell the R6, get a ride down to PA, then ride the VFR back! And take some back routes to make that 5 hour drive into an 8 hour one! :) Okay, maybe that's not the best idea being unfamiliar with the ergos, but I'm guessing coming from the R6 riding the VFR in comfort will be no problem at all!

If you're going to use a van be sure the VFR will fit,being bigger than your R6..... And picking it up as apposed to riding a new bike though such a congested area is a wise choice...... and as already been said, there's no reason to think it's nothing but a honest deal......

I would take the price U found the one on ebay and show him and see if they will match. Always better to deal in your backyard. And some dont post there final prices so they can PLAY THE GAME on the price.

I fit a 5th gen in a full size rental van w/ no drama.

Plus 200 freight and set up so it is now $7199. Read all the fine print to be sure they don't "fee" you to death too!

That's less than I owe on my 07...... LOL That's a fantastic deal.

Why get a van? Suck it up and ride the R6 out there and the VFR back. Make it even more worth your while and try to do an Iron Butt Run out of it (provided you don't use too much time at the dealership).

It's a great bike at a great price, and a great adventure. Tough experiences make great memories...

And tired riding makes bad accidents! Too much of that around here lately! That having been said, I personally would ride it back if traffic wouldn't be too terrible. :)

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. Yeah, 5 hours (one way) isn't all that bad. I'm not sure how the registration stuff would work, buying it out of state. Between that and not being familiar yet with the feel/ride of the VFR, I figure it best to transport it. I know the R6 fit in a van fine, and thanks mechdziner for confirming the VFR will fit. I've got a Baxley Sport Chock and some decent tie downs, so it'll be pretty secure.

I know I could get more for the R6 selling it on my own. That was my original plan. But I'm getting impatient. It would be nice to get a VFR before the riding season is over. It might even convince me to extend my riding season a little. (I put up the R6 around Thanksgiving last year.) Between that and the great price on this one, I decided to stop stalling and go for it already.

I've already started upgrading my gear to more adult stuff. I recently bought a Tourmaster hi-vis jacket instead of my jet black Icon jacket and a nice Suomy helmet instead of my heavy Icon. I was foolish to buy the R6 last year at my age (44 now). Besides the ergos, it's just not my type of riding. But the VFR on the other hand sounds perfect. Bigger, but not too big, much more comfortable for rider and esp. passenger, and I love the factory hard bags (I'll prob get a set over the winter).

So I'm really looking forward to it. I'll post up if/when I get. And I know, pics or it doesn't exist. :biggrin:

I bought mine there(track n trail honda) off of ebay in may and thats $1000 less than i paid

They've got a red one for $6499 on their website.

BTW, I've always found that riding a VFR is more fun than looking at one. Although with the weather not so great, that's about all I can do this week is look at the darn thing.... :rolleyes:

I ended up getting the one from PA. Picked it up yesterday. Went to DMV today to register. It sucks that it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Maybe Thurs. I can take it on an inaugural run.
