Gps Options

I have been looking at GPS and see the units for bikes are much more expensive and the selection limited. Is anyone using a car model with any sucess? Is it worth the extra coin or is using a regular car unit going to give be the same results.

Am I starting to sound cheap?

I use garmin 60cx not that expensive works great! heavy duty water proof. doesn't have all the features of most car models or zumo but does have the ability to plan your own rout with map source on a PC which is the most important feature for me on a bike.
lots of rider use regular car GPS they work fine just use a baggie to keep them dry

I got the Nuvi 550 last month, works great on my bike. Plus you can get the Motorcycle kit from Garmin or Amazon. I got the details if you need them :biggrin:

Got a tom tom rider the other day couldn't be happier, I just need to find a bracket for the Yoke.

I use a Garmin Nuvi 750, it works great. Not waterproof, but that's not a big deal AFAIC.

I have a Garmin 2610 and am very happy with it. Garmin stopped making them about 3-4 years ago but you can find them on Ebay pretty easily. The unit is waterproof and has flash memory instead of an internal hard drive which can be damaged from vibrations. You can also plan out routes on your PC. I like the unit so much that I bought a second one as a backup!!
