Cz Chains, Ltd.

Looking to buy a chain/sprocket replacement for my 6th gen. The RK/Vortex chain kit I installed last year is still holding its own after 12k miles, but it will need replacing soon. Looking around this forum, its sounds like the D.I.D. is favored as a durable chain brand with long wear. In shopping for prices on fleabay and the like, I ran across a chain brand called "CZ Chain". They are made in the Czech Republic, and from what I have googled, they are OEM on select BMW chain-driven models.

Just a quick conversion of tensile strength (which CZ is referring to as breaking load) seems to come in just shy of 9850 lbs. A DID 530 VM x-ring is 9760 lbs.

I suppose they can't be all that bad, can they? Looking at eBay, there is a 120-link CZ O-Ring chain by a supplier that sells for $60, which I can cut to the 112 links needed w/ a fresh set of steel sprockets. Sounds really cheap, but on paper it looks decent.

Any experiences regarding this chain brand would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning toward the D.I.D. set, but I could use the extra savings on a comparable chain.

If it's the same CZ that made motocross bikes back in the '70's, it should be bullet proof. Their bikes were practically indestructible.

How big are the side plates, the pins, ect

All brands have their good and better stuff , I'd have serious doubt on a $60 chain , unless I knew excatly what I was buying.

Ex: Over On one of my super moto forums a while back, guy bought an unheard of chain and sprocket set , and the chain broke , exploded the cs sprocket and he crash as a result.

The pictures of the chain were barely above bicycle grade , Basically cheap chunk.

You can get a 100 or 120 dollar decent chain that will get some miles, but the best ones out, with 2.6 mm plating and 11.0 rollers are going to run above $150.

can you be assured the Cz chain is that 530 SDZ, specs are decent

I'm running a DID Pro, it was only $106( will be a one night stand) the highend ones are above $150

I wound up getting the D.I.D. through Sprocket Center. The CZ chain looks good on paper, but the price point really leaves me scratching my head as to why it's so cheap. What are they giving up for lower cost- material quality, QA, workmanship?

I still would like to hear of any experiences w/ the chain, seeing the gossip bit as an OEM supplier makes me curious.

Pete McCrary> It is the same ČZ, it was founded in 1929, in 1992 bought ČZ motorcycle Italian Cagiva, but they have not success, in 1997 ceased production motorcycle. ČZ Chains became independent and still produces chains...
Btw: In the years 1969-1991 has been produced 843,727 motorcycles...
