Seems that no matter how full I get the fuel tank on my 04 VFR that I can never get the gas gauge to read full, (always minus one bar). Anybody else run in to this issue?????

Are you filling it up while on the side stand? If so, even you would not do it all the time, try filling it up on the center stand so you know you are getting the max fuel in there. If that does not work it would seem your fuel level sensor is out of whack. FWIW, filling on my side stand only gives me about 15 miles or so with the full bar lit.
Fill it on the center stand or, do what I do & just sit on the bike & hold it level while you fill it. I get all the bars after I fill up, but the first one always goes away quickly.
The fuel sensor bracket is just a float on an arm. If I fill mine up while sitting on the bike, I can get it to stay "full" for only 10 miles. The readings are always pretty conservative, with the bike reading like it has less fuel, which is the same reason for this thread:

Bending the arm downwards would solve both problems, someday soon I'll do this and take lots of pictures and make a how-to out of it. But this is pretty normal for a 6th gen.

My first bar goes quickly too for some reason.

It reads the smallest portion of the tank...the most I usually get it 9-14 miles depending on how I ride.
Also I always aim the fuel nozzle to the left part of the tank so it doesn't hit the gauge arm and splash out....
