I've sent tightwad an email hoping for a fast response since I am in the middle of this but he may not be able to get back to me quickly. Maybe someone here can answer this.

The VFRness has two connectors on the R/R end. Does one of these not get used? It appears both plugs are jumped together. Only one seems like a match. There are two connectors coming off of the R/R but one of them (with yellow wires) is not compatible with the VFRness.

Does the OEM 30A fuse remain gone after install? All of the OEM wiring seems to remain so not sure if this still needs to be in for some reason.

I bought the VFRness for my 06 as I was going to install the accessory fuse panel and thought that I may as well get this too.

Thanks

All conectors on the VFRness are used... it should be plug and play... it can be a bit uncomfortable getting eveything aligend and to fit under the fairing but there should be no surplus connector if you ask me...

The Original 30 Amp fuse should be replaced with a 20 Amp fuse and another 20 Amp fuse placed in the fuse-holder of the VFRness which you should route around the battery toward the rear of the bike to be located where a couple of othe rimportant fuse holders are...

If I can find any photos I'll post up... don't know if my 2003 is the same as your year/model...

Thanks. I am thinking I got sent the wrong part. I put everything back together. I'll talk to tightwad about it.

They are both used. You will disconnect the R/R to main harness connector, plug one side of the VFRness into the R/R, the other connector connects to the main harness that you just disconnected from the R/R.

You don't change the connector with the 3 yellow wires (from stator)

Exackery. Now I recall, thanks Jeremy... the VFRNess is basically in series like you said... the stator-R/R conector (yellow wires) is not involved.

AH HA!

OK. So one wire end not being coupled at the plug because the male side only has four connections?

I believe you're right there but not completely, if I recall rightly, I think that's what the purple 8finally blue I think, coming out of the relay) cable is all about (see close up in the last photo, where it clips into a "live" wire from the other bunch of connectors), I seem to recall that this reroutes the black-black/white cable more directly to the battery, this being a feedback wire to "help" the R/R adjust it's output according to the needs of the battery... in the OEM harness, this wire takes a rather convoluted path back to the battery and thus is rendered somewhat useless... Bueller??
