Bought an '03 2300 mile ABS to ride around SoCal when I'm not in Idaho. Came with a bunch of nice stuff, side bags, unmounted top bag, tank bag, Heli's and other stuff I'm forgetting. ( I'm old, gimme a break!) So now, I'm heading back down for a couple o' weeks to install some new toys and enjoy some great roads and sights. So here's the deal. This trip, I'm installing a C-tech fuse panel and relay to make it come on and off with the key, Hyperlites on the back that will come on with the brakes, a Powerlet mounted in the stem and connected to the C-tech that will power both a powered tank bag and a Garmin Zumo 550. After reading this forum for endless hours, I'm concerned that the electrical load might stress the marginal electrical system on this bike. So, whattaya think? Do I need a VFrHarness?

Do I need a VFrHarness?I have all that powered stuff on my '98 and it doesn't even make the voltmeter move. I have the VFRness, too, and it was money well spent.

Do I need a VFrHarness?By doing the wiring properly like you are, you are definitely increasing your chances that you won't overload your stock wiring. For me, it was the wiring that failed, and not the stator and R/R.

You might consider putting LED's in the top case instead of the Hyperlites. I did this with mine and have been really pleased with the integrated look and performance. It was a bit of work, but well worth it in my opinion. Here's the link to my writeup:

Congrats on the new to you Vtec.
I think you will be fine with the route your taking, so like a better set-up than I have on my 02 which I've run radar, heated grips, vest, socks, etc. for the last 70k miles w/o issue.
I think one key is to Not use those 100 watt draw high beams much. ;)

I think the biggest draw comes from the starters, so I try to make sure other things are off before pushing the starter button, but maybe that's just me.
