Can anyone educate me on the operation/function of the secondary master cylinder on the front left brake. I looked in the manual but didn't find my answer, and asking here is too easy.
squeeze the hand brake, it pivots as it clamps onto the front disc and when it pivots actuates the secondary master cylinder to activate one piston on the rear brake through the proportion valve behind the seat. You have to be moving to work the rear brake or the secondary master cylinder does not activate.

So to speak. That's why when people de-link the brakes (a la Baileyrock's track pig), they get F4i or some other fork legs and calipers so that don't have that feature. Once you "defeat" that portion of the system, de-linking the brakes is fairly straight forward.
IMO, the most difficult part of doing what BR did is finding a decent F4i front end. Keep in mind most F4i's were ridden hard and put up wet by young squids (and old squids for that matter) and finding a totalled bike that hasn't suffered front end damage is tough to do.
I want an F4i front wheel (I think, maybe an F2) to mount on my ST1300 so I can run 17" rubber on the front. Same problem as with the forks, finding an F2/F4 wheel that hasn't been abused with a thousand wheelies, stoppies, etc. You gotta believe a used one (provided it was straight and true) would probably have shot bearings.
