Dropped my bike tonight visiting a client. I ended up losing money on this visit, IMO.
So, I'm asking the local Southern Cali folks if they know of places I might find replacements. Advice on aftermarket stuff would be cool too.
1. Right mirror complete snapped off.
2. Right brake level bent. Not sure if anything else broke here but I'm still braking!
3. Right brake pedal squished in. Still works, but the rear light now stays on inconsistently. I've not further examined it.
I'd rather find a junk yard, which I'm gonna do. Just wondering if there are recommended ones around these here parts.

The mirror can be ordered online through http://www.ronayers.com/ or http://www.hdlparts.com/. I recently ordered replacement parts ($1100) from ronayers.com and was pleased with my experience with them. As for the break level and the brake pedal, if you're careful you can slow bent them back. The rear light might just be loose. I would double check the connection. Sorry don't know any junk yard for bikes, but I'm sure there should be a few in SoCal. Good luck on your repair.

Try BikeBandit.com but first check eBay - may get a good deal. Rear break switch may be stuck or the fall may have damaged the switch. disconnect to see if the light is still on
EMGO sells replacement mirrors that utilize a plastic mirror instead of glass - they are much cheaper than stock and available from any Parts Unlimited dealer, as are replacement hand levers. The brake pedal I would try to bend back, as they are a bit pricey. The first thing I would look at is the spring that connects the lever to the switch, then the switch itself, as it's mounted on the footpeg bracket with a plastic nut which can move. I doubt you have seriously damaged it from a parking lot drop, just give it a good looking at and you should be able to spot the problem.
If you have any significant scratches on your fairing, you should remove it and check your right side radiator, as it's mounts are very soft and it's easy to push the rad up against the frame and/or motor. Also check the fairing mount that attaches to the oil pan at the bottom of the bike. It's not entirely necessary, but any damage should be noted in case you have the bike serviced by a dealer and want to know if they caused the damage or not.

Sorry to hear about the drop, but glad you're OK and that the damage appears to be minimal.
I've dropped mine twice with very minor damage. Both times I heated up the rear brake pedal's arm with a propane torch and bent it back out. Had to replace the front brake lever the 1st time, too.
Warning - the cheapo replacement levers on ebay work OK, but I had to modify them a bit to fit properly. Also, if you replace both levers with the cheap ones, the cluth lever doesn't work exactly the same as the OEM. With the OEM you can start the bike in gear with the clutch lever pulled in. It didn't work with the cheapo lever.
I eventually replaced both hand levers with Pazzos - a terrific but pricey upgrade. :fing02: (Also, the Pazzo clutch lever works like the OEM as I described above.)
I dropped my bike a few years ago and ran into the same thing. Welcome to the club.
I agree bending the rear foot lever back and order a factory front lever. They are pretty in-expensive for what you get. I replaced mine with ASV levers as they have a 5 year warranty. Well worth the expense.

I'm revisiting the club! Dropped my bike the day I took ownership. That drop was to the left.
BOTH have been invaluable learning experiences. Yesterday's drop definitely reinforced NO BRAKING on TURNS.
It was stupid and I was tired. Took a right turn too quickly with little room. Problem was that I wasn't moving fast enough (at all, I think) but couldn't quite tell because I was somewhat numb from being tired and cold. So with the wrong shoes, I lost my footing and was unable to hold the bike up. I hobble/hopped away from it as it was going down, doing this weird one legged spinning dance to keep myself up. Lost a shoe in the process. It didn't help that contents of my backpack rolled up to the front and almost knocked me forward and down. I swear it was really retarded.
It tipped over the right. Mirror didn't even crack - the whole arm just snapped off. Brake levers and pedal bent out of shape and the stop lights don't come off from time to time when using the pedal brake.
Sorry to hear about your drop, but: #1 Glad you're O.K. and #2 that the damage was minimal!!!
Had a good friend do a low-speed get-off of his CBR 1000RR last week and did almost a grand in damage :blink:
He walked away with only a bruised ego - hope yours isn't as expensive!!

Check the back of the rear brake pedal...there is normally a snap ring and large washer that hold the pedal in position. You may have knocked the snap ring off....dont ask me how I know. The large washer still may be in postiion on the back of the pedal. Hence the reason of the brake light sticking on/off....again dont ask me how I know....just check it out.
Isn't there a nut on the rear brake lever that you can adjust the lever up and down, thus changing where the switch engages to turn the light on???

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from RonAyers. Buying used parts and cleaning them up is more trouble than it's worth most of the time. Unless it's a super major item like an engine, buy from either of these two places. Great prices and service and you get new straight, clean, unworn parts.
I had a problem with my brake light staying on after my bike got knocked over on the right side. Turned out that when the bike fell, the lever slid in on the bar and shorted the switch for the front brake against the bar. It'd blow the fuse for the signals and brake light (on my '96) every time I pulled the front brake. Took me a couple fuses to finally track that down. . .
(Add me to the glad you're alright hope it doesn't take to much to fix done that too group of people as well)
Sorry to hear about this. At least you are OK and it seems that damage is minimal compared to other horror stories I have heard with others bikes. I mean stuff like bent frames, busted radiators, ect.
So sorry to hear that man, i am still working through my rebuild so I understand the pain. However mine went down lowside on the left so I think my right mirror is in fine shape and since I am replacing them with my Darth Bling mirrors I could part with the right mirror if you want a good condition used one ?

I already spent the bucks to get it. Haste to get it done quick so I can start riding again - it's my commuter. Supposed to be shipping in this morning. Paid $39!! Dealer had it for $80.
Got the lever for $19ish, includes the "adjuster".
I still need to pry the pedal off for it. The fact that it's bent in does indicate it's a shorter distance so thanks for that, WIN6. I'm no blow-torch pro so I'll go real slow on prying it out.
@toddulu, yeah, there's a nut that the guys at the salvage shop pointed out. I need to play with that. Hopefully prying it out will set things back into alignment.

you don't have to take the nut out. Turning the nut moves the switch up and down in the housing, which lets the brake light engage with more or less pedal travel. My guess is that this got forced upward during the drop, and so it is reading that your brakes are on when the pedal is in fact in the right position. First try simply turning the nut in the correct direction, and be sure to note at what point your brake lights engage and disengage.
There is a shop in East Los Angeles that I bought a clutch lever from for $10.00. Its called Moto Technica (323)261-7050. You dont have to change out the entire clutch lever. You can take it apart and just change out the grip portion of it and save some money. As far as the rest of the parts, call and ask them if they carry them or can order them for you. They also carry used parts. Good luck.
