Speedo / FI light prolem fixed!

Final update on this problem...bottom line, as most of you guys probably already know, I don't think most dealerships are in the diagnostic business for motorcycle repair. They are in the R/R business (remove and replace). Thanks to VFRD.com and Hispanic Slammer, I fixed my speedo problem last night with a $7 plastic part. It's the little "speedometer joint" that is the nylon plastic piece at the end of the speedo sensor that fits over the hex nut on the front sproket. Apparently this little gem wears and then registers speed erratically or in my case mostly not at all. Of course the dealer wanted to order the entire speedo sensor to the tune of $120 plus labor. Thanks to the guys on this forum for giving me the confidence and tools to research and fix this problem. Oh, and the FI light was just giving the codes that ECU wasn't recieving speedo data. Problem Fixed!!!

Seriously, I wish I had the know how, the tools, the space, the...well you get the picture.

Buy a service manual, pick up the tools you don't have whenever you see them come on sale, and go from there. :fing02:

hey. i pulled my rear wisdom tooth out in under 60 seconds with a pair of curved vice grips.. saved me 500 bucks and getting drunk on grand marnier is better than getting gassed in a chair.

you can rent a self storage unit.. and shop at pawn shops for tools :beer:

Well, I really don't know how to respond to that! Some will try anything and damn the consequences if there's a bad outcome. nope .. i really did pull it.i put in a tooth gard on my lower teeth.. and a wood dowl to brace the vise gripsa.. and just gently pulled the tooth out.. washed my mouth out with everclear.. a lot of it.. then took some anti botics..
are you a dentist by any chance?

My buddy's uncle is a self-employed carpenter. When he cuts himself, no matter how badly, he stitches it up himself. He's been doing this for going on 45 years, and never got an infection or any other adverse outcome. The numerous scars aren't pretty, but his wallet is!
