Never tried this, so call me crazy - but I wonder if you could pull the piece out by Krazy glue'ing the piece back to the broken off part? Put a little drop on the end of the piece in your hand and stick it in there? Of course, try to turn the lock to a position that you can pull the key out of first?

i have removed a broken key by using metal dental instruments. my friend says to insert a small coping/jig saw blade into the lock so that the blade's teeth catch the teeth on the key and pull it out that way.

Do you have an extra cylinder? (My OEM bags came with one).

Have Daisy get it out

You could replace the lock(s)/key(s). Easy install. http://www.twistedth...roductlist/169/

don't know how deep the broken end is but...

put everything in your favour:

heat the assembly with a hair dryer (everything will expand giving you max clearance)
put a little WD-40 in hole
come at the key from both sides with sewing needles, trying to pull it out

If it's way in there, I think the technical term is "you're screwed!" :pissed:

If I remember right a replacement set of cylinders is not that expensive at the dealer. THey come in a set of 3, which I bought 4 years back. (3 so that you have the same key for the side AND top cases)

Many, many years ago, I knew a guy who got the key out of his fork lock by 'welding' a piece of rod onto the back of the broken key. I think he used a sharpened rod and and a battery charger as a homebrew arc welder.

I don't think I'd try this unless the key was loose in the lock. Can you move it?

Dental tools sound good, too.

Got the key out!!! Thank you Strap for the bright idea to pop out the hinge pins on the case.

Detailed instructions for disassembly/reassembly of the lock itself to extract the key will follow when I'm not quite so tired and dosed up on Benadryl. *atchoo*
