Vista cruise install on a sixth gen

Hey folks, once again in need to rely on you loyal vfr'rs.

Recently purchased a vista cruise universal throttle lock and I wanted to try to install it. Now I have the instructions but I am lost on how to install the rubber collar over the grip. Part two is trying to secure the non moving part on the handle bar. The issue is the that gap between the switch gear(on and off) and the brake master cylinder.

Anyone wiling to chime in?

Vista Cruise makes another one for dual throttle cables that fits like a glove.  I think you have the wrong one for a Honda...

Vista Cruise makes another one for dual throttle cables that fits like a glove.  I think you have the wrong one for a Honda...
+1 I didn't have to do anything to mine to get it to work.

Vista Cruise makes another one for dual throttle cables that fits like a glove.  I think you have the wrong one for a Honda...

I will double check but I am pretty sure that I have the right one. But I will confirm. It is 7/8 size model   The real issue is getting the unit mounted between. The gap of the switch housing and the clamp for the master cylinder.

Will that work with Heli-Bars? Does anyone have a picture of what this looks like installed? For some reason, I'm not grasping how it works.

go with the throttlemeister. The fit looks stock (read you don't have the big piece of plastic hanging there). I had the vista cruise on for about two days. Looked cheap and out of place. Went to the throttlemeister and couldn't be happier.

Works like a charm!  Best $17 bucks I ever spent.  Put mine on 3yrs ago.  While plastic collar lasted 1 yr but it still works like a charm.  Every now / again I need to 1/8th turn the spring, easily done with the ignition key.
I installed new grips when I did mine and also dremmeled a little of the lever off to stop it from hitting the tank on full turn.
Trimmed the little bevel edge on the throttle to make the unit fit (circles).  Bottom section snugs up to incoming lines.

It simply takes a flick of right thumb to engage and you are set.  Not a 'true cruise control' as it won't power up hills, but is a wrist saver for anyone doing any touring.

You know, that bothered me at first, but now I kinda like the fact that I slow down going up a hill... It keeps me in check when I can't see over the hill; every now and then, there's a guy on the other side with a radar gun. :comp13:

I just installed a the Honda-specific Vista Cruise on my 6th Gen (see model in sig), and I had to modify the Vista Cruise itself otherwise the throttle wouldn't close when the VC was disengaged. Basically, the raised ring on the throttle tube was rubbing on the Vista Cruise. I used a grinding bit in my drill to remove roughly half the thickness of the Vista Cruise where the throttle tube was rubbing, and now it works perfectly. Looking forward to trying it out when the weather gets a little warmer here!
