I looked on Sporttour.com to see what I could get. So I need the rack (FZ257), but I don't know what case would be best. Any suggestions (also, suggestions on where to find better deals than sporttour.com are welcome)? The reason I want a top case is for storage, but more importantly, to serve as a back rest for my pillion. So, I'd definitely get the back pad and brake light stuff. I saw the Maxia E55, but that might be too big. Maybe the V46? Looking for suggestions from those with top case experience.

Thanks.

What's the smallest case that would still effectively store things? Like a dufflebag worth of stuff.

What was the quality like? You also had to buy a rack for it to attach to, right?

that"s correct. I had a rack that the included base plate mounted to. Quality wasn't as high as Givi but did it's job well for less than half the price...

I've heard that the SW-moto aluminum topcase rack is not too trustworthy with a pillion, and has even broken. How is the givi topcase rack? What's a less expensive alternative, or is it just best to go with the Givi?

I would look at the hepco and becker journey 42 litre topcase and rack for the vfr (Part Number: 650.928 01 01). The quality is excellent; I like the profile for the bike and it's big enough to hold my medium shoei helmet and other stuff.

Do you have a pic of this topcase?

I use the Givi E360 as a trunk and it's worked well, solid and waterproof. It will fit one full face helmet with the little internal document holder removed. It worked well as a backrest for a pillion as is, but does have an accessory backpad available. To get the tail light you'd probably need to go up to the E460 or one of the two you mentioned.

I'm having sticker shock over that one, I thought Givi was pricey! Sheesh.
