First of all let me start by saying I enjoy having both wheels on the ground but I was having a debate with a friend of mine who rides a GSXR 750 about wheelies. My main question to you all that have done it cause I know it is possible, is when you have the front tire in the air and you hit 6500rpm and the extra valves kick in is that extra boost of power or the hesitation just before it kicks in enough to loop your bike or make the bike unstable in the wheelie? I think it would and my friend doesnt think it would make a difference at all. Any and all feedback would be great
Wheelie debate?

Any and all feedback would be greati think you'd have a very hard time getting that wheel in the air at all with the rpms below 6500.
Power wheelies are pretty easy to do by cheating w/ the VTEC, just run the bike up to 6900rpm(02-05), chop the gas and quickly bring the throttle back on, and the front will come up. You'll be above VTEC until you get into 3rd. And no, if you have the control needed to pull it up in the first place, you shouldn't have any problem going through the transition. It's not a big deal(but don't try it at home kids)...
Not that I would EVER do that. :pinocchio:

I can't get the wheel of my 06 off the ground. I weigh 350 lbs so that might be part of it...
Well, if you had gear driven cams, you wouldn't have to worry about it! :laughing6-hehe: Just sayin...
Personally, I'd say do the wheelie over the transition point just to be safe, but if your bike's transition is smooth it probably wouldn't be an issue to go in and out of VTEC.
Also, I think it's easier to make fine throttle adjustments at higher rpm's, and you'd have at least a 3k rpm range to operate in over the VTEC engagement point.

I've been worndering this myself. On my 03, will it do a wheelie if I just go full throttle in any of the first few gears? I'm not a speedster so I have yet to go full out yet.
When I want the rear wheel off the ground I use the center stand. When I want the front wheel off the ground I put a sack of fertilizer on the seat to tip it back. I have no other wheels at this time. :goofy:

I'm not into wheelies, seen too many wheelie, crash, burn, spend big money on scary medical devices videos I guess. :goofy:
Sometimes the unintended wheelie is fun as you shift into second, or whack the throttle to pass some backmarker car.

I had a few of those in the past when I really wanted to go. Since most of the time I was unaware of the front wheel being in the air, I was very surprised when it touched down again...

Since most of the time I was unaware of the front wheel being in the air, I was very surprised when it touched down again..You may not see it, but the front end and the bars will feel light, maybe wiggle. :comp13:
Make sure the front is pointed straight ahead when it lands. I hear it's a good plan.
