Clutch Kits?

So my 02 VFR has 51k miles and I have noticed with time the increasing slippage of the clutch. I am thinking time to replace the clutch pack and after reading HS's How-To I am pretty confident I can handle this myself. So my question to my fellow VFRD members is:

A. Do I buy the OEM parts for about $250?
B. Do I buy a clutch kit?
1. If a kit then who is a good vendor?

I found this kit: Barnett Clutch Kit which covers the basics but is it worth it?
I want to get the best bang for the buck so I will pay more for the OEM parts if it's worth it in the end but am exploring all options at this point.

TIA

barnett make good plates. so does vesrah...ditto for EBC
you ONLY need FRICTION plates.. not the drive plates or the springs and stuff.. unless you have killed your clutch doing racing and burn outs..

denniskirk has the above for prices starting about $60 up to $100 for the friction plates.

EBC Standard CK Clutch Kit
Dennis Kirk Part #: 382017

Vesrah Clutch Discs
Dennis Kirk Part #: 382167

shop and gave fun!

Thanks for the heads up. Since I have never done a burn out and I don't race (yet and not with my VFR) I think I will follow your advice and get friction plates. I am glad you pointed me to Dennis Kirk because I was just about to order a new front tire from them and now I can get both from the same vendor. :fing02:
