I'm in the club now

I guess I knew it would happen at some point.  I was moving around in the driveway and over she went.

Damage in order of importance (to me):
My pride.
Left fairing scratched up.
Titax clutch lever snapped.
Shifter and passenger peg brackets slightly bent.
Minor scratches on mirror, tank (from the fairing), bar end, and rear grab handle.
Left peg feeler snapped off.

Started right up afterward.  Do I need to burp the cooling system now or something?

That's what the black asphalt paint is for however...it doesn't show the scratches as much!  Glad it's all fixable.

Well, well, well, look like we got us another one in the club.
I'm actually working on fender removal right now to get it over to the body shop for touch up. I'm not even going there with the front cowl. What a bitch that is! That's going to get painted on the bike.
I tipped twice trying to close my garage door...on the bike... I may not look like an idiot but looks can be deceiving.
I've seen some Carbon Fiber aftermarket mirrors on Ebay for around $28 but I haven't seen them on a bike to know if they look any good.

At least the damage isn't that bad and colorite sells the paint to match for touch ups.

Number one tip to prevent


always keep a finger on the front brake and always have the weight of the bike toward ya.

I've low sided at the track, jumped it off a curb and did a 360░ slide on the hard bag. I've even tried to CATCH another 6th gen as it fell (bad idea, almost lost a finger). But as of yet, I have not done the driveway drop (knocks on some wood).

Now I've probably cursed myself. I should just go kick her over and get on with it   :laughing6-hehe:

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.  I'll post up a pic tomorrow in case anyone has an idea for a fix which doesn't involve spraying the whole side.

1 - dropped while trying to put bike on centerstand in garage.
2 - dropped bike during very slow right u-turn.
3 - fell over with bike while getting on it 2 weekends ago.

The first drop is always the most painful. As you gain experience, your moral strength will allow you to derive some humor out of every other drop. Practice makes perfect!

Now, interestingly, I didn't drop mine until my second year of ownership. Go figure!

Frame sliders are the single best, most cost effective, mod out there. It pays for itself multiple times over, sooner or later.

Honda is going to run out of OEM replacement fairing parts soon..

I beg to differ. Hard cases are the best mod to save your plastics.   :blink: And they come in handy to carry sh!t too!! :cool:    Ask me how I know... :blush: They're not as cost-effective as frame slider however...

Got me some carbon fibre look mirrors when mine got scratched. looks pretty good!

My first drop was in the u-turn box while practicing for my test.  Grabbed too much front brake and over she went on the right.  Bent the brake lever, broke the foot brake lever, scratched the fairings and round engine cover, damaged pride.  The second drop was this year in my driveway.  With one motion I lowered the kickstand with my left foot (so I thought), and dismounted.  By the time I realized that I had missed the kickstand gravity had taken over.  On the plus side, I now have matching levers.  I actually like the way the levers feel curved a little like they are.     :biggrin:

Don't sweat the drops.  You're not the only one.

while you have the fairing off, take a look at the radiator mounts....they are probably bent as well.  Make sure your fan isn't rubbing on anything.

This is the majority of the damage.  No cracks in any of the plastic, but the tank is dented. :pissed:
The (now) shorty lever isn't working for me, so I'll need to do something about that soon.

I know how u feel ! I dropped mine coming into my yard in May. What a sick feeling.. For me i dropped it on dirt and grass and other then a broken mirror and some scratches on the fairing all fairly minor It wasn't too bad. The part that sucked was i bent the radiator on the side that has the fan. I waited all summer before taking it in thinking i was going to have to replace the rad and fan.

I had even taken the fairing off and wanted no part of sticking it all back together again. So i drag it to the dealer and they call me back 1 wk later saying they just trimmed up the fan and stuck it back together. Sure enough no more grinding noise. All it cost me was 1/2 hour labor they charged and about 4 months down time i didn't have to have.

Been there done that, though not in the driveway. Around the corner from my house, just after I got it, I went down on zero mph left hander. Broke the left mirror off, bent the shift lever and some minor scratches on the plastics. I had like 10 miles on it at the time, if that!   :pissed: Now I've got the hard bags on, and pretty much leave them on. But I hope to never drop it again to see how much they help.

I have that same little dent on my tank!... Club member since 2007.  Never dropped one in 18 years, and now one driveway one stop sign, and one low speed in four years.  Always thought I would be more carefull as I got older. :blink:

I made it to 6 years without a scratch.  Pretty sure it was a small patch of sand that got me.
Maybe now I'll get around to the lowering mod so I can flatfoot.

So were there any ideas for making this better?
