Throttlemeister Install

I'm installing my new throttlemeister on my 2007 machine. My question is about the throttle side. How far should the replacement weight be pushed inside of the bar? I can't seem to find any details in the instructions on that issue. I don't want to push it in too far--here's a pic of how far I've get it inside the bar now. Is this OK or should it be in further? Thanks for the help!

The image is a little blurry, but what I think I'm seeing is the part of the assembly that includes the O-rings and serves as a base for the end weight/rotating locking unit.

If that's the case, what you're looking at there will have to go almost or even completely in the bar. It won't hurt to loosely attach the end weight to the inner assembly. This will give you an idea how far you need to insert the inner assmebly. Once in and tightened down, you'll probably have to loosen and reposition it a bit to get the function down.

Then again, if I'm miseading the picture, none of the above may be valid. :pinocchio:

Sorry for the blurry picture. But yes--what I'm referring to the the part with the O rimgs that slides inside of the throttle side bar. So if I'm understanding--that part needs to slide inside the bar almost flush with the end of the bar? Not sticking out like I've got it! Thanks---I didn't want to get it too far into the bar and then not be able to get it out!

I agree with attaching the end weight and pushing into the bar. I installed mine a month or so ago and that's what I did.

I would definatly install the "threadlocker" on the screw once everything is where you want it. Otherwise you will have to reset everything over again and it will move on you. Don't ask how I know!

You want it pretty well flush...you'll know you've got it when you "dry test" it. With the engine off, turn the throttle, and then lock your Throttlemeister. Does it hold? Furthermore, is it not too tight, i.e. you should be able to do a "manual override" and back off the throttle by hand even with the Throttlemeister in the locked position.

Thanks for the info. :fing02: I'll work on getting the O-ring piece pushed further into the bar. I've installed the TM on my 'busa, but on that install I didn't need to replace the bar weight on the throttle side like on the VFR. I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly!

So how is the TM working for you?
I'm thinking on getting one.

I love it--perfect for longer rides. I highly recommend getting them!

I bought a TM for my '03, but was frustrated to read that it seems to be incompatible with my Oxford Heaters heated grips. I LOVE my heated grips, but wonder if anyone has been able to install this combo?
