CB1000R Rim on VFR

I was looking at pic's of the new CB1000R and it has a SSW 4 bolt pattern rim fo a 180 rear tire - I wonder if it would fit on a 6th gen? What do you think?

I was wondering the same thing, as I, too, like the looks of the CB wheels. I guess we'd need to know the bolt patterns and spacing to be sure.

Im not sold on the soft swirly look of that back wheel from the 1000....looks too....uhmmm....soft and swirly :dry: ..... The DN-01 actually has a better looking rear wheel IMO:

.......but its 5 bolt pattern and shaft drive will most likely make it impossible to bolt on any VFR except maybe the 1200, with some modifications.

That's what I was thinking.

I love the CB1000R... and I'm seriously thinking about buying one. But, the rear (and front) wheel is one of the very few down-points for me. So, hopefully, I can assume one of you'all will be happy to trade me??

Wonder if the front will come close to swapping?

Ideally, something closer to the F3 wheel (what is it, six spoke) is probably my favorite style. I've seen a bunch of VTR1000's where they just swapped on an F3 front wheel and a 900RR rear wheel, such a simple bolt up mod... but it really looks so much better (to me).

Nice. I'm thinking of those plastic chrome spinny hub caps for cars.
The squidly ones that spin after the car is stopped.
I don't guess they make 1 for bikes. :laughing6-hehe:

Thanks fotodai, it sounds like you got the rear wheel to work despite that others said it can't be done. But you said the fronts look different. Have you, orvanyone else, tried swapping the front wheels?

I most recently, copped a Squat on the Kawasaki Z 1000 , I thought the ergo really sucked, it was like beeing locked into a Dog house that was about to endo. I dont likle speed tripple ergo either

Is the CB1000R ergo much like these models?

For anyone interested in a Predator, I did a video a while ago where my mate and I swapped bikes - Me on his Predator and he on my VFR800. If you can tolerate awful NZ accents and a mind that wanders more than a stray cat you might find something somewhat useful in these videos. I had come from a Hornet 919 to the VFR800, previous bike before the Hornet was a Blackbird. My general consensus was that it was much like the Hornet with more awesome, less practicality. The suspension is more sporty so the VFR soaked up some bumps a bit better but in the end it was really down to the rider on how well you wanted to push it. It really was a damn hoot to ride, but I like my soft luggage and there aren't many options (if any) for the Predator unfortunately. I can't fault it as a fun ride though, the engine is great! No mods on the VFR800, only mod on the Predator is the Two Bros exhaust (sounds amazing). Part 1: Part 2:

No, but I do have one in my garage...Evil ST1300 front wheel/forks/ABS swap that never happened. I never really liked the look, but it did look a bit like the ST1300 (18") wheel, so I tracked one down. I should measure it one of these days... :blush:

Hi all!!!

Some answers; I got the CB because I wanted a street bike to run around Lagos with (Her plates read RUNS) :cheerleader: . A friend had the bike and I ask him for a demo and was instantly smitten. Coming from the 800VFR, the sitting position is slightly more cramped (I am 6ft 4). But once I got past this I realized that the cramped position actually gives you a more "in control" position. As with most street bikes, you ride in an upright position which also means, at least for me, that control is so much easier. The bike is extremely stable at low speeds and we regularly have a slow speed race in Lagos, at which, the CB always excels. I decided a long time ago to always have a bike with ABS and was thrilled that it was possible when I was ordering her.

I have since added alot of extras to customize her; Puig fly screen, LED "inside" blinkers + relay, fender extender, radiator grill guard, R&G mushrooms, Laser Exhaust, Bar end mirrors, Body Style rear huger, Givi luggage rack, ZUMO 660 cradle, TPMS. More details of my bike are here:

I tend to forget how much I like this bike, but every time I get on it and start her up, a smile spreads on my face. The bike is also very flickable and I have touched the toes of my boot on the tarmac several times, without any drama or discomfort.

For touring, without out fly screen, you would have to battle with the winds. there is really no protection. But with te screen in place, top speed climbed by about 20km/hr and there was a lot less work for my neck muscles to do.

I looked at the front wheel as it compared with the VFR's; they use similar front brake pads (not 100% alike but interchangeable) but the ABS sensor position appears to b different. I never bothered to investigate this further.

Another friend of mine has the 2010 Z1000 and I rode it to compare, the Z, for me stretched me a bit more (handle bar reach). Riding it was a more "tedious" experience although a lot of our people here would say the CB is bland. But as we say in Nigeria, "The monkey is not beautiful but it's mother loves it" :laughing6-hehe:

In the end, I would say get to ride the bike if you can so you can make up your mind for yourself.
