Leftover 6th Gen: Where to find and how much?

I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a 6th gen after drooling for 8 years. Ideally I want a brand new leftover with ABS.

I'm willing to travel pretty much anywhere on the east coast to pick it up. Have searched cycle trader and best deal I've found is $8,000 ($8650 OTD) for a 09 Black without ABS, and $7500 ($8300 OTD) for a 08 Gray without ABS.

I also called all the dealers within 50 miles of me (Boston).

It seems that just a few months ago people were posting on here about rock bottom deals, 07 RWBs for $7k OTD with ABS!!, 08s for $7.5k OTD. Where do people find these deals?? If anything I'd figure now would be an even better time to buy the few remaining leftovers.

Are there dealers known for having leftover VFRs at low prices? Can I search anywhere other than just Cycletrader or Ebay Motors?

If you check eBay, often times dealers will list their leftover models. You could possibly bid for the amount you're willing to pay even though they certainly have the "buy it now" option.

I've checked Ebay, nothing much on there. I think there are only 8 or so VFRs.

I guess the next step is to get a list of all the dealerships within your traveling distance and call them up! Hehehe

If you shoot for the best deal you ever heard of, you may never get a bike. We have no way of knowing all the circumstances of those deals, and you have to throw in geographic location, timing relative to warehouse auctions, timing relative to season... There's just a lot of variables. I picked up mine crate-fresh 18 months ago, and while I didn't get that kind of deal, I was happy with my 35% discount. :happy:

FWIW, I'm not saying it's an impossibility, but say you have around 6% sales tax and and all the fees are waived - that is still a selling price of $6500 or so which is a pretty deep discount, and I expect it is far below what the dealer invoice would have normally been. Again, not saying it can't be done, or that you should throw money away, but if you are ready to buy, and are looking in all the right places, the market is what it is.

All that said, +1 to the suggested search locations so far. I looked for a long time and found the supply waxed and waned - but eventually the availability will dry up, especially for the '07s at this point.

I wouldn't rule out a low-mileage used one either, though there you will have to avoid private parties and dealer trade-ins trying to cut their losses because someone paid $11,000 for the bike originally...

Last Time I looked Cherry Hill Honda in NJ has a couple.
There are a few down here in NC/SC that I am sure the dealer would just love to get rid of. I saw two RWB on the floor a couple of weeks ago.

Just to be curious why not by used? You can save a couple of grand.

I know where there is a 2007 Candy red one with 950 miles..non abs for just under $6K..

I believe that Honda of Jacksonville (Fl) has a handful of 6th Gens, and at least one of them is RWB, last I saw around Christmas. One of our members here bought one in October and got a good deal. http://www.hondaofjacksonville.com

I was in a dealership here in Portland this week - they had a new RWB ABS with $8,999 on it - which is probably why it's still sitting there. Hard telling why some dealers stubbornly hang on to their price rather than moving out 3 year old inventory . There seem to be quite a few on Cycletrader - some both used and new at good prices.

Try Team Charlotte Motorsports in Charlotte, NC. (704) 394-6666 There's a guy there (sorry I can't remember his name) that has always been able to find leftover VFR's and they sell them cheaper than most anywhere I've seen...

That's Ricky Hendrick Performance Honda Suzuki in Charlotte, NC. (actually Pineville, NC.) As you'll see they have a brand new 09 for $7999.

Or I'll sell you my 07 RWB which has Rizoma grips, Heli bars, and Comp Werkes fender eliminator and less than only slightly over 900 miles on her for $6,800. I don't really want to get rid of her, but I'm itching for the new DTC for some reason.

The people at Ricky Hendrick are great to deal with and that's a killer price on a NEW bike.

The one for $6,900 is a smokin' deal ! I figured on posting mine for $6900 and letting her go for $6500, but mine does not have ABS. It has Heli bars, Rizoma grips, comp werkes fender eliminator, the 3M clear tank protection, plus all original parts, and less than a thousand miles. I might just keep her though. I'm on the fence because all other models I'm considering are a LOT more expensive.

Anyway, good luck finding a good ABS unit at a good price if you don't act quickly enough for the one in Atlanta.
