what mods for a vfr

well, i dono if ppl follow other threads, but i just got my self a limited edition white and black vfr800,



was wondering what i should do to mod it first, being a new bike, im not goign to go overboard until the warrantee is over.



but im thinking



Pazzo adjustable levers, long

Oggie No gut knobs

Carbon Fibre Hugger

Carbon Fibre Tripple Clamp cover

got this cool punisher skull gell tank protector coming

Givi Tinted Double Bubble screen

Ventura or similar headlight guard.



I have a ventura rack on order, but ill get a set of hard panniers and top box to her when i can afford them, not sure if should go a matching white pair of oem side boxes, or a givi set up with the quick release things.



will install this ignightor alarm, a cigi socket and a usb charging port, possibly heated grips like a pair of oxford sports too.



got custom number plates on order, a rego tube holder, i know irelivant stuff. not sure ill go a fender eliminator on it.



i will in time, go a full exhaust, remove cat, titanium or carbonc ans, pc3 and a KnN or similar after the warrantee periods over.





not sure about braided lines for her, being this linked brake thing, will work that out later. keep her as linked, or just rewire it to solo with new braided lines.



i will adjust and set up the suspention for my weight. not sure if ill go anything serious unless i find some problems with it.



will be mostly using her for touring and commutting to work, but i enjoy the twisties.

Not sure what your budget is, but I would vote going for comfort first seeing as your primary duties will be commuting and touring.

I found the VFR quite comfortable right out of the box. But, taking the advice of others on these forums... I added risers, grip puppies, sergent seat, and some peg relocaters to lower them. What was comfortable before is like a really soft pillow now. Really more upright.

You mentioned the Fender Eliminator.. I'd go with it. Just my personal choice but I really like the look it gives.

On the Pazzos - most people who opt for shorties are completely happy with them - you can still get a good fistful of fingers onto them if required. I have shorties on both my 4th Gens. Furthermore, the Chinese knock-offs get excellent reviews so worth considering at a vastly cheaper price.

The brakes don't need any help, suspension maybe but depends on how hard you plan to ride it? With loaded panniers a spirited ride will see the shock giving up a bit of performance when it gets hot, but that's about it.

I would highly recommend Lobster Mirror extenders and heated hand grips.

Don't forget about a throttle Lock (Throttlemeister, NEP, or Vista Cruise)

You may also want to consider some speed bleeders if you do your own maintanence.

i gota say, the mirrors on my first ride, i looked in them and thought my arms must of fallen off, coz i couldnt see them, thats all the mirrors are for on my cbr..

i was going to put a sheep skin solo pad on it from sheepy hollow, still got one or two or three here.

right now, due to budget, its goign to be the little mods for style, durability, and comfort, juust a little customisation, with out going into redesigning the bike.

as for longer levers, due to shoulder injury, my left arm is very week and i struggle to pull a clutch in, which is why i test rode lots fo bikes to find that the vfr that had the lightest clutch.

I have thoguht of Hellibars, will see how we go if i need them or not.

what are grip puppies?

I'd suggest some Fazzos (fake Pazzos). The adjustability is great. I just ordered my set last week, so I can't vouch for them personally, but they did get great reviews. I think you can find the link earlier in this thread.

Grip Puppies are soft foam grip covers. I have them and love them. I like the added thickness, and of course the softness. http://www.casportto...es/GRIPPUP.html

I like functional farkles. That being said, corbin seat, RAM gas tank mount, and throttlemeister. Electrics for the winter, satellite for long-distance ridng. :fing02:

Just wondering - so Honda is still selling the 6th gen in Australia as 2011 models? If so maybe I'm the only one that doesn't know that . . . :mellow: and, then are they selling the 1200 next to it? If that's correct, does anyone know if Honda is still making 6th gens and not bringing them to the US or are they just clearing out leftover production and calling them current year models in those countries?

Nice bike man, sorry to burst ya bubble though, but they are Limited Supply not Limited Edition like myself and a few others have been told by our local Honda Dealers...

Honda tell me that they were never advertised as Limited Edition by them, However they cannot comment on how the dealership sold the bike........ I THINK THEIR FULL OF SHIT BECAUSE I SENT THEM 5 EMAIL LINKS WITH DEALERSHIPS ALL OVER OZ ADVERTISING THEM AS LIMITED EDITION !!!!!!! They had to get that info from somewhere.....?

Anywho, Mr Leo Vince will giver her a great voice!!.. I would look into suspension work seriously, once youve ridden a Viffer that has been worked on, youll never go back..


Cogswell that is correct..... Cant comment on the US side of things. Although I know AUS got more white ones in 1 year after I brought mine... Limited my ASS.

Love the black and white, looks real sporty

Ive got the Pazzo shorties and love them, plenty big enough and look heaps slicker

There is also a carbon fibre instrument panel cover to match the triple clamp cover, they look good together
(think I heard the 2011 comes with the instrument panel cover standard but not sure)

I think PC only list the PCV from about 09 onward. Ive got Carbon Devil Magnums which I love, but I like the look of the 2 Bros. exhaust too. Whats everyone alse think of the 2 Bros., do they look a bit short??

I dont know if your number plates are smaller than ours in SA but ours wont fit between the pipes, even custom ones (sucks). To compromise I cut the fender off at the bottom of the screw that hold the rego label, sounds dodgy and was nervous about it but it looks good

I have the Pazzo shorty levers on my 2007 and they are great. I just (4 days ago) had carpal tunnel surgery on my left wrist and all last season (pre-surgery) I had no trouble pulling the clutch. Heli-bars made the riding position just right for me so a +1 on those and a ++ on the Sargent seat. World of difference in comfort over the stock board. Lobster's mirror extenders allow me to see more than my shoulders which is nice, especially in traffic - a must have IMHO. I got a CF triple clamp cover last summer and it saves the top clamp from key damage plus looks awesome. Mod slowly and you will avoid spending errors. Now if only my wrist would heal and the snow would go away.

Yeah, they told me, limited edition, and said, the honda rep told them their was only 10 of these limited editions, too, i also in my email search was offered by another dealer, saying its limited edition. maybe, maybe not, it was the same price...

Some more goodies, i installed the Alarm, Got some Pazzoish long levers on order, and im still waiting on my punisher tank pad to get delivered, sheeze, been 2 weeks.

and heres the alarm video, first tone is a warning, then it took a fair bit mroe to actually make the alarm go off.



the other beep is just a confirmation that the alarm is disabled, it arms silently

Yeh a good bit of bling, great note out of them. Theres not many around either. Ive tried to get a clip of them but the clips never do justice.
Heard a clip on you tube and just had to have them. So after waiting a few months for them to be made (apparently the factory in france shuts down over christmas) and about $1800 including taxes later they were mine

dont think i can afford near on 2k right now for a set of cans,

Hope am not going to much against the grain but think the only mods you really need are, a spare key, map, gas money, close your eyes, put map on table, put finger on map and say ini, mini, mighni, moe, with each word put finger somewhere, anywhere on map and on MOE that's where your going or take a small coin toss it in the air where ever it lands that's where your going and AGATT is not a mod.
