Changing the dash bulbs on my VFR and was looking for the best option.
I`ve got a pearl white/ black 800 and have bought a white tacho background and was opting to change the dull orange backlighting to white LED`s or would clear bulbs do the same trick of changing the illumination????

With a full white tach you will get 3 little circular shadows at night, I think they are mounting points and there is no way around it.
Did you get a custom tach from ThrottlePimp?
If you're putting it in yourself I do have one piece of advice. Set the needle to zero with the gauge cluster hooked up and the key in the run position. If you press on the needle in the 0 position with the key off you will read about 500 RPM's too high.
I bought my tacho facia from a france via eBay.
I haven`t pulled my dash out to check yet, but does the Vtec vfr use bulbs or soldered in LED`s?
I haven`t done this sort of thing on a bike before, just cars i`ve had

Soldered LEDs. I have a spare dash lying around and always wanted to make mine blue; maybe now is the time to try it out. The LEDs are pretty cheap.
I would NOT recommend doing this yourself unless you are experienced with a soldering iron. The circuitry is tiny.

As someone else mentioned, send it to bluegauges. Very reasonable. They do a fantastic job, and it comes with a warranty. I had mine changed to white a couple years ago, and it looks awesome!

Dude I hack Xboxes for fun. I can solder hair thin wires to motherboard pins less than a millimetre across. :)

If you can hack an Xbox, most likely you can swap out the LEDs your self. :fing02:
cheers for all the replies, my bike is riden daily, so unless I buy a spare dash and send it away to bluegauges (oversea`s, I`m in Australia)
I might as well buy a spare dash and do it myself (plant mechanic, dabble with auto electrical work daily, but on mining gear),
...........................or I could get an electrician at work too solder it for me!!! ;-P
The white tacho is going to look out of place with boring orange dash lights

Which is why I said "unless you are experienced with a soldering iron." You'll have no problems with this, but it's not the kind of thing that should be done by someone who has never used a soldering iron before.

Which is why I said "unless you are experienced with a soldering iron." You'll have no problems with this, but it's not the kind of thing that should be done by someone who has never used a soldering iron before.
I did mine myself.. also did MY F4i - it was pritty easy and cost about $15... however Blue gauges would save you the Pucker factor...
