Recommend a good mechanic in Atlanta?

Twice now I've been screwed by the mechanics at two different Honda dealerships in the Atlanta area. First was Lawrenceville. Took her in for some maintenance and to have the wiring harness recall fixed. Well, two weeks ago I found myself broken down on the side of the road at TMAC with a severly overcharged battery. Come to find out they never fixed the harness recall. The douchebag behind the shop counter even made it a point to tell me it was a good thing I brought it in for the recall before I had any problems. Thanks, jackass. Second was at Honda in Jonesboro. 1 week after installing my new titanium Micron's she went in for new tires. Something happened, not sure what. My guess is they dropped it off the stand. When they finished they rolled it out and parked it so that the side of the left can wasn't visible. Got on and rode home. About an hour later I came back out to snap a photo with the new tires, and that's when I noticed a huge dent in the left can. Also a scratch on the left fender. After countless phone calls I gave up. It was going to be a cold day in hell before the took responsibility. I was told once it left the lot it was my problem. Lesson learned. Thanks, jackass.
So now I'm approaching 15k miles. She's an 04 bought new out of the crate in 07 with ABS. It's time for some relatively simple maintenance. Change the fluids, new brakes, new chain and sprocket, fork oil, etc.
Can anyone recommend someone in the Atlanta area? I live downtown and would like someone I can get to within an hour or so of travel.

Hyperformance in Woodstock seems to only deal with dirt bikes, at least that's what I got after skimming their website.

Hyperformance in Woodstock seems to only deal with dirt bikes, at least that's what I got after skimming their website.


Mark is well known for his suspension work in the dirt world. He also has a great mechanic working with him who has lots of experience. For those items you listed needing done, you cannot go wrong with Mark.

Huey also has a great reputation and will furnish excellent service.

He does it himself. He went to the famous place in Fla (the name of which escapes me at the moment) for training and specialized in Honda.
I'm also Kevin, but my "training" in Fla was less expert.

Given this is a thread about Atlanta I will add my one experience. I bought my bike from WOW. First the good stuff - the salespeople were all great - the entire process of purchasing the bike was a lovely, low pressure experience. The sales critters are all bikers, and seemed quite knowledgeable. I was assured the bike was fully checked out and serviced prior to my purchase. Imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered the chain was dry and had visible fresh rust on the side plates, the oil level was down at the add mark, and BOTH tires were 10 PSI low. I immediately decided to change out all the fluids as I had no idea of their age, or whether the dealer had changed them. The bike only had 3600 miles on it and has been trouble free so far, but caveat emptor ! You never know, maybe one mechanic thought another mechanic had done the prep or something, but it makes me wonder . . .
I do my own wrenching so this is not a big deal, but it's nice to know where to go if I ever get in over my head. Great thread, hopefully others in the Hotlanta area will chip in!

I went to school for automotive repair, but have been working on bikes (my own and on the side) for 20 years now........damn I'm getting old. :blink:

No "formal" training on bikes though. Just have collected tools over the years (motorcycle lift, tire machine and spin balancer, chain staker, manometer, fork tools, etc) as I do different jobs.

Kevin Robinson, at CycleGear - Cobb Pkwy & Windy Hill Rd, near the Galleria. He is a fully-trained cycle mechanic and formerly worked for Motions aka Mt. Motorsports north of the Big Chicken. He does his mechanic work at home in the garage and passes the savings on to you. Kevin also rides a VFR800.
