What a crap morning....went to the carpark to start him up to go to work and guess what??? Turn on the ignition press the start button and nothing happens....not even a single click! Check voltmeter shows 11.6v. Physical check on the batt connections all fine....noticed my voltage stablizer LED is not even on. Tried moving the handles and moving the clump of wires under the ignition to start him...still no.
No time to open him up to check the fuses....put my helmet in my panniers and took a cab to work.
Batt and stator just changed 6 months back....but I had a little overcharging from the rectifier for a few days now. Btw the fuel pump works so it can't be the battery.
Do any of the lights come on when the ignition is turned to on? When you say the fuel pump works are you simply saying you hear it priming when key is turned on?

Yes I can hear it priming...I can even see the FI light switch on and off.
Seb...no loose wires the ignition is ok no physical damage.

Sound like it might be something small. I used to always leave the bike in gear, and start it with the clutch lever pulled in, one day the clutch switch was a little gunked up and would not let me start the bike in gear any more. So I had to always start in neutral after that, until I fixed the clutch switch.
With the FI light coming on and then off, and the fuel priming, could be something little you wouldn't expect.
M/C batteries are only a little less fickle than the weather (or the government, or the last G/F, etc). It may be able to produce enough amperage to run the FP but not have enough to turn the starter. Removing the batt and having it load tested would be the best way to verify it's still good. If you can verify good current all the way to the starter it may be a tired starter solenoid.

Does it have a starter fuse? Not talking about the main 30A mains....if that blew everything will not be lighted.
The voltage says battery way under charged, even though fuel pump may work, see if you can charge the battery . If it starts, something drained the battery or its bad. even a worn vfr battery in decent shape will hold above 12.7 volt for weeks in standby. Below that, theres something wrong .

Ok this is totally strange....last night when I came back from work....went straight to the carpark and put in the key turn the ignition and press the start button.....it started!!!!!
This is weird...anyway this morning sent the bike over to my mechanic and he checked the voltage on the rectifier/stator/battery told me nothing was wrong.....he jokingly said that maybe my bike was too lazy to go to work in the morning. :beatdeadhorse:
Anyway due to overcharging problems I had since last week, changed the rectifier just now...
