VFR linked brake prob

Hi Techs! Ran into a problem that hopefully someone can help me sort out. I have an '01 VFR 800 with the linked brake system. The secondary master cylinder was leaking, so I took the piston out and noticed part of the gasket was torn. So I ordered the piston and boot and reconnected, but now when I try to bleed the rear brakes, it starts to spew fluid out of the piston/secondary.

I'm wondering if it's something else beyond the piston, or is it normal for it to spew out when pumping the rear a lot? I didn't bleed the rear in order as it calls for. I just pumped the rear lever to see if it would tighten up, but it just spewed the brake oil like before. ; /

Sounds like you put the master cylinder seals in backwards!

Sounds like you put the master cylinder seals in backwards!

How do you put them on backwards when they come on the piston from the factory? The piston slides into the cylinder with spring on bottom, then the boot sits on top. All seals are already attached to parts from manufacturer.

Just an update: Sorted the problem out. The C Ring on the boot side wasn't pushed down far enough to clamp into place, hence the oil spewing.

Oh, the master cylinder kits I've used were always separate pieces and needed the rubber seal to be installed onto the cylinder first. I haven't replaced a secondary master cylinder before.
