"VFR" decals

I have an 02 and looking for the "VFR" decal that I have seen that fits on the side fairings near the top.  It shows a pic of it on my Haynes manual but when I went to bike bandit to look at the OEM parts catalogue they do not show it.  I have some road rash there from the previous owner and the decal would cover it up nicely.  Any thoughts?

Have you tried looking it up on ServiceHonda website?

Yes - nothing is showing.  Would there have been a difference in US models?

This guy is on Ebay and while he isn't listing any VFR stickers right now, I do know he has them available.

Nice stickers, good prices, good person to deal with.

Just contacted this guy.  He will do a set of 7" VFR decals - red with silver outline - for $12 shipped.  If I went with a solid color it would have been less.  I am thinking this is a pretty good deal.  At least I can hide some of the rash on one of the fairings.  I'll provide an update on the quality of the stickers when they get here.

There is a VFR interceptor decal form the 5th Gen models.

Tri650, please let me know what the outcome is...I'm interested in doing the same with my 02.  Also, what part of St. Louis are you in?  I'm out in St. Charles and would love to meet up and ride sometime.

Those are Euro decals, a member here made some years ago and I bought some, but never put them on. I can't even think of where they are right now... :blush: They were very nice though!

A little spendy, but first rate quality.  It can take over two weeks to get them as they are mailed from Europe.

I found the honda-decals site right after I bought my other set.  I'll see how they look and determine if I want to try this set.  Not really that expensive to cover up some road rash.

The decal you are referring to only came on the European and Canadian spec bikes.  I tried to order the Canadian decals for my silver 03 from two local shops and they looked at me like I was crazy.  They don't have a part number for it in their fiche.

So I bypassed them and ordered mine from Carter Motorsports in Vancouver, BC.  It has been a few years, but I think the total damage was about $90 shipped.  The shipping was about 1/3 of the total cost.  It's a little spendy, but the OEM decal has alot of detail that would be hard for a sign shop to duplicate (especially since you don't have the original to copy).  The VFR lettering is enhanced by a darker dropshadow lettering.  Each side comes in two block pieces and all the lettering is surrounded by a color matched to the bike.  So when you are looking at the silver in the VFR font on my bike you are looking at the silver which is part of the decal. Make sense?  There is no clear on the decal.  So it blends in perfectly to the bike.

I too have been searching around on and off for the last couple of months looking for silver RAISED decals that you see on the candy, dark wine red 6th gen vfrs. These decals are NOT stickers, they appear to be literal solid, stamped out plates of metal in the shape of the silver stickers. Anyone have an idea where I can find them?

I would check with any Honda dealer in Canada.  They should be able to hook you up.

Seb called it, they are the Euro decals. They are raised and look super nice. We did a group buy here a few years ago and got them from David Silver spares in the UK ( I think it was Motorhead1977 that set it up). IIRC, they were about $40 per set. Expensive, but worth it. They look great in person. However, it seems DSS no longer sells 6th gen parts. I'll see if I can find the part numbers for them. I also tried Honda Canada with no luck. Post up if you can find a place to get some, I'd be in for another set.

Curious that DSS still sell decals for the 6th Gen. They stopped selling parts for 2001+ models a few months ago. Perhaps they have a few left over they want to get rid of.

I popped over there last year - they have a very nice little museum of Honda bikes. I should go look for the photos.

Judging by the massive price increase, maybe they are now complying with Honda's normal pricing? I had heard that they got sued or something for selling OEM parts way below Honda price.

I put on the xtreme decal - I f'd up and only ordered one.  I bought the decal in order to cover up some rash on the fairing.  I positioned it to cover most of the rash so it probably is not in the appropriate spot.  It had to carry over onto the front cowl.  It went on fairly easy - followed directions on site - however, I am not sure how durable it will be or long it will last before it starts pealing.  The corners pealed up fairly easily as I was wiping it down.   Plus, I had to cut it at the fairing line so it will be interesting to see if it stays attached at that spot.  Looks great and accomplished the mission.  I will see how it lasts before I order another one for the left side.  Also, I'll post a few pics this weekend.
