Well i bought some 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl off ebay to try out. I just happen to come across it on the web. Watched multiple youtube clips on how great and easy it is. I installed it on my exhaust heat shields so i will have to see if it can take the heat. I have read that many people have put it on parts under the hood with no problem. I also used high temp paint on the rest of the rear exhaust. Turned out pretty good. I have to touch up some things and might paint the bolts as well. I just never really liked the exhaust shields being chrome but nothing else on the bike was chrome. If i do not like it or if it does not hold up i can just peel it off. Hope that stuff is heat rated or its going to make a real mess trying to get off when melted. On a hot day the mufflers get extremely hot & so does the foot plate location.

I have tried it on the plastic covers just under the seat and the dog ears on the dash but have held off trying it on the exhaust for that exact reason. Please let us know how it holds up ! I am actually considering wrapping the frame in it this Fall to black it out a bunch to flow better with my custom paint.
How do you think that would work on factory saddle bags ?
Since I got the idea in my head I have been feeling the shields on the mufflers with my hand while riding. The shields never got hot enough to make me think this won't work. I will keep you guys posted.
As for it working on the factory saddles. I am sure it would work. It just takes a lot of self control. Your best friend while doing it is a blow dryer. Watch

I had contacted a vendor on this for heat shields, I was told that it would not withstand the heat. Looking at some carbon fiber sheets that will be heat resistant to 160*f.
Well so far so good, been commuting to work everyday this week. Live in florida, temps have been 91 degrees. Showed all my riding buddies, can see the wheels turning in their heads. I will repost back in a month or so.
Just ordered a 12x48 sheet of the 3m di-noc. Going to give it a try.

They have samples you can order of all the colors they offer. That way you could try some and see.
UPDATE!!!! Well it has been over a month now and it still looks great. Looks the same as the day i put it on. No problems with heat or road grime.
The chrome on my asphalt colored bike has always seemed out of place to me. I ordered the 3M. It is in. Shields turned out to be a pain to get off the bike, but I'm doing this same thing to my exhaust. Thanks for sharing.
I was thinking of using that to add a color accent the bottom half of the fairing.
Di-Noc is great stuff. I fitted some to the subframe spars of my 2002 back in 2010 and when I sold it a week ago they still looked great.
Just wondering when faux CF became so acceptable all of a sudden, (although I do like the look of that DI-NOC stuff myself..... :rolleyes: )
A few years back we used to snicker when we saw faux CF on stock GSXRs put on by Suzuki themselves (around the dashboard areas). I guess that older printed stuff just looked really, really bad.....

No issues with heat at all? Is be interested in wrapping my Delkavic chrome muffler with this...

No issues at all but it is stuck on the heat shield which I have never had warm let alone hot yet not the exhaust itself.A mate of mine has told me though that you can get heat resistant vinyls but I don`t know were though.cheers Glynbo.
