Checking to see if anyone is interested in coffee at 8am in Newport Beach.  The weather is getting colder and the holidays are coming so I thought this would be a good weekend to try getting some Southern California owners together to talk about bikes.  Please post if your interested.  This coffee shop should be able to please the toughest coffee critic....And if you like good cigars, wine or liquor, Hi-Times is just down the street and well worth the trip...

Newport Beach is too far for me to be there at 8am, I don't get out of bed until 8 because I am so friggin lazy.
If you can come up with a more reasonable time I may be able to get to the OC and meet up with you, especially if my CBX is still apart in the garage.
#3
Later is fine, what time do you want to get there?
#4
you make it a 8-9am thing sunday morning and you have a deal.

i normally work at TGIFridays at the block at 12:00pm and I can see coffee and bikes at 9am.

10 am sounds better to me and I can kill two of birds with one stone, a friend of mine with a highly modified 82 CBX needs me to sync the carbs which I can do at his house instead of making him ride here with out of sync carbs.
Just got off the phone with him and it is set, he will meet me at the coffee shop.

Deklund, The wife (as passenger) and I might join a benefit ride on Saturday, depending on the weather. It's being hosted by an MC group (NIMBUS) it's supposed to start in Seal Beach at the Salon Meritage where the shootings took place a few weeks ago and head into Newport Beach. It starts at 9AM at the Salon on PCH with stops in Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. I have never done a benefit ride but the wife and I are always in Seal Beach so we feel a bit compelled to be part of this.

Anyone else in Orange County is certainly welcome to check this out too.  http://www.nimbusclubusa.com/salon-meritage-benefit-ride/index.cfm

Duc2V4,

So if your going to finish in Newport Beach, hopefully you can stop for coffee when you finish?

That's what I was kind of thinking.  Don't want people to think I was stealing thunder.

So are we talking about 10am on Saturday? Yes, I am going to be down there at or around 10 am on Saturday for coffee and a review of the VFR crowd in the OC then I have to go earn some money.
The 120 mile round trip will be good to check my highway mileage again, I should get over 40mpg. I still don't see how anyone can get 50 mpg out of a bike that is stated to only get 35mpg on the paperwork from Honda.

Great,

It looks like this is coming together  I'll be at Kean's at 10am then and hope to see as many riders as can make it.

FWIW, I never get better than 38 or 39 on my commute.

Don

That's what time I will be there if traffic is cool.
Keeping my speed in check is hard to do on a bike that likes to cruise at 90mph.

I have had to ride home from the OC splitting lanes all the way from the 22 up the 5/101 past Hollywood and what should have only taken 30-40 minutes tops on a motorcycle took me 90 minutes instead. Hope it is not that bad this weekend but, it is gonna suck and the only thing makiing it tolerable is the meet up with you all and of course the money I am going to make syncing the carbs in that awesome CBX.

Count me in on saturday morning. I'm coming from W. L.A./Santa Monica area, so 9:30-10am works for me. You guys can see my DAM exhaust in person.

#16

Not to active over here on this board usually am on VFRW but I'm down to meet for a cup of I'm coming in from Santa Clarita. I will have to go over to my Families house in Chino after for the Grandmas Birthday party. Not sure if the wife will want to ride her FZ6R down so I might be a maybe depending on what the wife wants to do. I know she got something to do that morning but i don't know if she can do it that early to get to NP Beach by ten.

Do you want to ride down there with me when I leave Studio City about 8:45? You have to go through the San Fernando Valley anyway.

Sorry I missed the ride. The benefit ride got a late start, we didn't leave Seal Beach until about 10AM. Kinda figured that would happen. I've heard from more than one person, that these type of rides tend to get late starts. Maybe next time.

Cheers!

It was a good ride to the OC and meeting up with you all today.
This is the most 7th gen VFRs I have seen at one time so far.

I am looking forward to the next meeting of the VFR.
Thank you for the invite and good conversation.

Ahhh, but we added two more; an 800 and a red Wing!

I think we over stayed our 30 minute parking..

I just got home. I rode up to Cooks Corner (nothing much going on), the through Mission Viejo and on to the Ortega. I passed up a pack of sportbike hooligans, and they hardly acknowledged me as I went by. I did get a wheelie..  I just kept cruising by and left them behind at the left turn signal onto Ortega Hwy. I stepped up the pace so they wouldn't catch up.

I stopped by my husband's Lacrosse clinic and watched them play for awhile.

It was good to meet & talk with you today, you are alright in my book young lady and I hope to talk to you again in person.
Enjoy that VFR.
The tall guy in the picture is Jeff and I synchronized the carbs in his customized CBX after we left the coffee shop today, very cool modified CBX he has.
