I finally broke away and did a quick trip to Franklin to check out our new HQ Motel the Microtel this past Sunday/Monday. The ride over was great and I got to share lunch with Kev & David along with the Cherohalla on the way.

The parking lot was basically empty when I pulled in around 5:30 pm Sunday evening, I did a quick check in and started checking the place out. Rooms were clean and fairly updated, flat screen tv's, wifi, ect.
The parking lot is slightly sloped in front and there is only One entrence to it and it's on the front. It winds around the motel and ends up 3/4's way around back where a gazeebo and a half dozen parking spaces sit. This is where i'm thinking of have out dinner/awards banquet Sat. night. On that side and below the motel is teh Fun factory and the go-cart track looks good!

There is the Boiler Room restaurent in the Fun Factory and Fatz restaurent right out the front of the parking lot. I sampled the food at the Fatz and it was pretty good, I can picture Trace holding court at the bar!
On the same side of 411 as the motel is McDonalds, Arbys, Huddle House, Shoneys, etc. and few others across 411.

Now for the important issue, BEER!  You can walk right down these stairs into the Shell Mkt and get beer.

Not much of a wide selection

the Shell Mkt accross 411 has a much better selection and there a grocery store a few minutes away with better prices and selection.

Any pics of the parking lot? Mostly wondering if there's enough room to squeeze in all the bikes/cars/trucks/trailers.

And as last time. If anyone wants any special brews from up here, shoot a PM. I'm heading to Rochester this weekend to stock up on the good stuff.
#3
Actually the parking lot is huge especially with most of us on bike of which I would like ONLY Bikes alond the building.  There is plenty of room for trucks and trailers on either side of the main drive and in the upper areas.
I took some pics but dumped them as unneeded.

Hence the "Not much of a selection" comment!
Other places have much better selection, there are either a drive away or a walk accross 411. Don't want all you drunks walking out in traffic!
So folks with vehicles with need to offer suttle service for better beer runs!

I found it!

This back corner is just for the german beer that is too smug to mix with the other, less pure beers.

Most of the US microbrew section.

Perhaps some of these would be more appropriate. Not too heavy, not too light, just right!

I'm here until sunday. Store closes at 4. Last call for requests. Here's the list

Hey unless your bringing a bunch of mini kegs(hint hint) or this stores in Franklin, it's not helping!

Judging by this commercial, everybody in the USA drinks beer..... (Dutch beer maker Bavaria makes hilarious adds.... look for the one with Mickey Rourke)
#15
What most Americans call beer is, well...

Went by the Microtel in Franklin this weekend for a fly by. FYI when you arrive on 441 look for the two Shell stations(one on both sides of 441) depending on which direction you arrive from and the Shell station where the Huddle house is the location of  the Microtel. When you see the two Shell stations PULL INTO the first Shell station you arrive at  and get your bearing, 441 in this area  is real a diaster. EVERYBODY BE SAFE.
#17
Thanks David, I ment to add that info to my thread.

Coming from the Franklin Motel turn Left at the Huddle House. Street between the Shell and Huddle House, takes you ti the motel on right behind teh Shell.

BTW  were not suppose to have glass in the parking lots, but since we pretty much have the entire Motel they said it's OK but if you break a bottle lets get it cleaned up asap!
Thanks

Dammit, not going to this is frustrating.   :pissed:    But I don't think my family would forgive me if I bailed on my stepsons graduation.

Oh yeah one thing....... What is advertised as "continental breakfast" is an insult to the continent.......

But then again,  beggars can't be choosers.
;-)
#34
the breakfast was described by Dutchy as "a waffle, some fruit and a little hamburger"
#35
Wonder how 'fresh' the waffle batter is
#36
I volunteer to wake up early on Friday to make a shitload of waffles in advance.  I promised Seb to make sure the rides start on time so no riding time is lost. ;-)

Right now I'm donning my leathers and have Skuuter show me TN.  And visit George Dickel!!!!
