New member from mid west, Just dropped in to say hi.
Actually hoping to get a VFR soon for better ergo and for 2 up rides. Love to ride the twisties and would like to take my wife with me on some less aggressive trips from time to time. Cannot afford two bikes so just wanted one bike which can do both works
Looking around actively for one. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Is the VFR a decent 2 up ride for 120 pound lady ? When looking for used VFR is there any thing in particular i should be looking for?

Welcome to VFRD, im sure you will find plenty of help here. I have a '02 in red and my wife has a '06 in white, and we both enjoy our rides. I like the '06 and up bikes better, but they are all great bikes. Mileage really isnt an issue with these things, my wifes bike has 46K on it and going strong. I can't help you with 2 up advise as we each ride solo, but there are lots of people here than will chime in soon about that subject. Good luck on your search, and you could always check out the classifieds on this site.
Get the backrest. Your wife will thank you for it. There was thread here a few years back showing how to make your own backrest for the Corbin seat. My wife refers to the back of the VFR as a "perch". I ride more solo now anyway. Just kidding, can't remember the last time I rode.
Out of the two Corbin is the only one that has the back rest ..... I agree the pillion needs a back rest, and teach her to put her hands on your tank when leaning forward(in case you haven't learned that already).
When I have carried pillions it was a pain having them slide forward on to me, but now with these new tanks it makes it easier for them to reach around and plant there hands on the tank.
Another thing is to buy a rubber shelf liner (house/cabinet stuff). Cut it to fit to her seat(bike) and she'll stay put..........

Do your research before you shop so you know what you are looking for and wanting, and feel free to use the brain trust here to help critique potential bikes to buy
Based on my experience as owner of a 5th generation ('98-'01), as with a lot of sport-oriented motorcycles the relatively high position of the passenger's pegs can require a fairly-tight bend in the knees. This may not be a problem if your wife is petite and a twenty-something, but my wife & I are are past 50 and she's a lot more comfortable riding two-up on my considerably-roomier '94 ST1100 than she is riding pillion on my viffer.
If your wife can handle riding passenger on a ZXR (sportbike?) she'll probably do fine on a viffer...especially after you add a back rest.
I have a 3rd gen 750 that takes a passenger just fine. I've heard that the 700's are just as spritely, but regeared so they have a slightly lower top speed.
No ones mentioned it yet but if you get a 3rd/4th gen, make sure you look over the charging system especially the regulator/rectifier. Things that look melted would be a bad thing. Mine was fine (I didn't even know to look), but I think most people here would agree that this is a good step. I realize this may be difficult with fairings on. An alternative may be to take a voltmeter with you and check the voltage at the battery with the bike off, at idle, and at 5k rpm. This isn't an end-all be-all test, but a good indicator.

almost fixed on a 2008 VFR sparingly used, looks very clean priced at 6600, is it too much? checked the nada seemed reasonable. Not, many option left around here thats why had to go for it.
Somebody said with the saddle bag passenger might find hard to reach footpeg, is it right?
Only saw picture of dutch on 2 up in the gallery, not much two up pics online as well. Any one got some pics to share?
As for VFR with bags on./.. Its not a problem at all for the passenger. We tour everyyear 2 up with bags and it makes it even more comfy as she can remove foot from peg and lower her leg down to stretch. It will not interfer with peg at all.
My wife is 154 pounds (and sexy as hell). Even the stock seat is comfortable for her, and we also go riding with the Panniers on. She says she doesn't notice them at all.
