I put 84k miles on my first '02 VFR800 which I sold last week and picked up a pristine 15k mile '02 VFR800A from a member here.
I need help with checking recalls.

I went to Honda Owners Link and checked VIN recall and the wiring recall for my new bike is listed "fixed"
The site noted "Recall information for Honda motorcycles, ATVs, Scooters and Personal Watercrafts is only available on Owner Link for recalls issued since October 2003."  No other recalls listed.

Only one punch mark is made on my VIN number.
So I think that means the Alternator recall and the Subframe recall were not done.

Can I live with the original alternator as long as I do not run highbeams and fan at the same time?

Can I do the sub frame repair myself?  How do I learn how?  Can I get the plate Honda made for the repair? Has anyone here done this?
I am adding OEM side bags to the bike.

Thanks,

Nice!  I was eyeing that one, too.

The subframe was not a recall, just an inspection. My 02 didn't need a subframe. The alternator was a recall, but I believe it is expired now. I bet you would be fine since you got the harness done.

I went to Honda Dealer.  The said the "Seat Rail" was the only recall or service bulletin not done on my bike but it expired in 2006 and Honda does not sell the kit.  They printed off the service bulletin that describes the work.  If cracked replace seat rail, if not cracked add reinforcing kit which involves drilling two holes and adding a plate.  They also listed the part number for the kit, I tried to order it from a Honda on-line parts dealer and no record of part in their system, but when I Googled the number some sellers came up so I ordered one.  I will install kit when I install the OEM hard bags.

"Seat Rail Reinforcement Kit" Part # 50241-MCW-305
