Before I take the bike in for an inspection, maybe someone has an idea. I'm running a F4i front end on my '03, a great setup for both road and track, however ever since I did this swap I've been experiencing a knock on hard braking (a single pop while braking, then another such knock when accelerating again). I checked the steering bearing (tapered) and it seemed snug, not keen on tightening further; I can't see anything loose on the calipers.. I'm at a loss. Any ideas appreciated.

brake pads shifting in the caliper? If bearings are tight, this is the only thing that comes to mind ATM.
