I seen a lot of the community's bikes in the photo section and I really like your 07 RWBs (I like others as well tough to make up my mind). I am a noob to bikes and VFRs, but I am fairly sure that is the one that I want...after a couple weeks of research. I found a couple, but this one has the least amount of miles...I am okay not getting the bike and getting another one, because at the end of the day...I know if I get attached to it... it will not be a good business transaction...
The bike is posted online with 1,200 miles on it for $7,000 ($7,500 OTD). I know that I can get it for less, but wanted your input. Do you think this is a fair price? I think that the bike is a beauty, but I think that the current market worth is lower ($5,500-$6,000)...IMO...what do you think? Also, with it being an '07 with only 1200 miles on it...does that seem to good to be true...like there was a crash or odometer change? What price would you pay for it and what due dilligence checks would you do to feel comfortable making this purchase?
Also, is it true that their were only 1,000 of these made?
Any other good tips, things to look for, or advice on negotiating down a price would be helpful. I will most likely make this a cash purchase if it knocks the price down some.
I'd venture a guess that there were way more than 1k made, they were still sitting on show room floors (new) in 2010, possibly into 2011. Since so many stuck around for so long i'd also guess that this one could have been bought late and not ridden much. Ride it, if you like it (you will :tour: ), offer what you'd be happy paying.
Check the wheels and tires and make they are the original ones. Looks for indication they have factory tires, look for scratch on the wheels. This means they been changed and ask why if it had only 1200 miles.

10,000 maybe, when I got mine I was looking for the RWB and the dealer told me there was 500 in the system for Canadian dealers alone. I went with the deep red just because of the deal I got on it.
I believe there were a lot more than 1k of them built, also. The low mileage could very well be true, because likeblakem said, they were still selling brand new 07 RWB's even as recently as a couple of months ago. That being said, it doesn't sound like too bad a deal. It doesn't have ABS, so I definitely think it could be lower. But I see it does have the stock seat cowl and grab rails, so those are a plus. Just for reference, I bought mine brand new in 2010 with ABS for $6999, though I've been told I got a really good deal. Even if you do end up paying what they're asking (or close to it) I don't think you'll regret it. The bike is that aweseome!
Don't let mileage be a deterrent for getting a good deal on a VFR. I have over 50K miles on mine with nothing more than standard maintenance. I wouldn't pay that much for a 5 year old bike even if it was new on the show room floor in this market.

Another VFR website started to assemble a list of serial numbers and owners. The serial numbers range from 0002 to 1376. I belive the concensus is no one really knows the exact number of RWB's that were made.

Be respectful, let them see that you are an educated consumer (for you, the bike will not be an impulse buy), and mention that their price seems higher than what the current market is supporting. If they come back with a lower figure, ponder the offer for a moment, then have the confidence to ask "is that the best that you can do?" I can vouch for the mileage most likely being correct. I purchased my '97 in 2002 with only about 1500 miles on it. There are people out there that buy bikes with all of these dreams of riding the wheels off of them but instead, they just sit in a garage collecting dust. - or as pointed out above, they were purchased 2 - 3 years later as left over models. You can usually find at least one of any type of bike with ridiculously low miles on them. The problem then is that often times the owner thinks that makes them worth another wheel barrow full of money. You can counter that with the fact that tire sidewalls, hoses, and such are often starting to "check" a bit and probably should be replaced. My VFR looked like it just rolled off the line and it was almost 6 years old. The first thing I did was replace the very un-worn tires after I looked at the sidewalls. It can be difficult not to get too focused on one particular bike that you find. Just be as educated as possible and be willing to walk away if they won't budge at all on price. I've gotten some of my best deals by calling back a day or two later. I have also been on the opposite side of the deal by not coming off and people walked. A while later, I was kicking myself for not just dealing and being done with the whole thing. Good luck.

Sorry but I was the one who got the RWB from Maxey's. It was less than $7k otd... Gotta love the 100 dollar bills.
Here is an example of low miles. I stopped by Honda of Tulsa a couple of days ago where my son is a mechanic. He had a '91 on the rack that he was doing major service on because it had sat for forever. The gold rims looked like new and had new rubber but the plastics were rashed and the inside of the gas tank was in bad shape. Exterior, chain and sprockets were clean enough to eat off of. The odo was only showing 18XX miles. Carbs were off so I peered into the intakes and the valves looked very carboned up. Could have been cheap gas but the wheels and drive train gave me the impression that the mileage was accurate. My point here is, low mileage is not necessarily a plus. The valves on my '00 with 23,000 looked much better when I had the throttle bodies off to replace the thermostat last month. Then, it also could have had the speedometer fiddled with. Who knows.

I ended up getting the bike at a fair price. This 07 RWB has ABS (which none of the others I was looking at had) and it came with a lot of good mods...seat, grips, windshield, two detachable bags, and best of all it was sold to me from a gentleman that bought it new and took great care of it. The selling process worked out great... I really felt good about the bike and the people I met during the transaction...people I know I could ride with sometime down the road. This has been a great process. I am looking forward to meeting more of you all and posting more pictures from my trips and rides. I am truly happy that I did not jump on the first one or thrity-seven I seen. :idea3:
