Is it possible to blow fuse E (headlights, brake lights, dash power) by running GE Nighthawk H4 60w bulbs?
I was out riding today and noticed the dash was unresponsive, no tach, no speed, but it was still running... Got it home asap and noticed the headlights and tailights were dark as well.
Looked through the service manual, and found that the right side fuse E was blown. I'm guessing the previous owner had the issue before as there was a 15w fuse instead of the expected 10w?
I put the spare 10w in and took a short ride, and within 5 minutes that blew as well. Rode back in the dark with just the hazard lights.
Some history, I bought the bike at 13k miles, changed bulbs around 13.5, and it ran fine until 15k miles today.
Is it ok to run a 15w fuse in there again? Is the culprit the higher wattage headlights, or is there an intermittent short somewhere?
Did the PO pawn off his electrical gremlins onto me?
