I've gone long enough without much if any motorcycle racing on my satellite TV. So I am thinking of upgrading my package to include a channel that has some racing coverage. In order to not break the bank and because of the crappy channel distribution that DISHnetwork has, it looks like I can choose to have SPEED or FUELtv but not both.
Any opinions on which one has better two wheel racing coverage? Or is there another channel I should be looking for all together?
I have SPEED on Dish Network. I get all of the AMA, MotoGP, and FIM World Superbike races on that channel. They also show the AMA Supercross races if you are interested in dirt.
My past experience with SPEED hasn't been very good. Seems 50/50 on race time vs commercials on the last race I watched. Better than nothing though.
I did the Eurosport thing. Probably the best motorcycling coverage out there. The announcers are great, and no commercial breaks to memory. But you need a good internet connection and an even better VPN. Even with college internet speeds, I still lost the connection to eurosport every so often. I was using HideMyAss. But I'll put a good chunk of that blame on Eurosport not investing enough money in their online player. Oh, and if you miss the live race, you can still watch the entire feed months later, but no commentary.
The BBC coverage is good as well. Not as good as Eurosport, but their web player is better, but is harder to navigate around and find stuff.
In the US Speed Channel is basically it, they suck but provide the most coverage of m/c races.
You need to find your way thru the thousands of NASCAR programs and Barret Jackson crap to find the poorly covered motorcycle races where you miss 10 laps of the MotoGP to find out what some rider thinks is going on in his life. :huh:
It would be awesome if we could get some guy in the UK to DVR the races, transfer them over to this side of the pond, and have someone stream them from a server.

If you don't have to watch live. Check the .torrent sites. I have downloaded the F1 races a couple times when my DVR decided not to record them. They were the UK broadcast without commercials.

I'm a bit weary of torrent sites. There used to be a really sweet one for all motorcycle racing, but it died out two years ago I think. Someone did post up some links, but they looked sketchy, so I never bothered with the site again.

I love SPEED's coverage - especially since they replace a lot of them foreign sounding people with good ol'American boys telling you such critically important things as "those discs on their knees scrape the ground" and "boy he's really moving on that bike". Sure, occasionally it means you miss a pass for the lead or a crash, but hey - now you know what knee pucks are for.
I have subscribed to MotoGP video service for the past 6 or 7 years. I try to wait for a favorable echange rate and pull the trigger on the subscription but with the US$ in the toilet this may be my last year.
I may try some torrenting.
Speed should rename themselves NASCAR Channel and be done with it. their coverage sux ass.
Or they should let me produce and direct the GP races, after 6 years with my video pass I know how to assemble an excellent 90 minute MotoGP broadcast.
