OK.... I'm working on details for my Viffer. Here are my 2 current questions:
1. How far are you guys getting to a tank?
2. What is the actual fuel capacity? I read online that its a little over 5 gallons but I have yet to be able to get more than 3 gallons in with the fuel gauge blinking red warning stuff at me.
3. If the wiring harness recall has been done (mine has) does this eliminate ALL of the crazy electrical gremlins or are there more?

2004 Non ABS:
1. 200 miles is not difficult unless you are really riding aggressively. I usually start looking for a gas station around the 180 mile mark. Some of the areas I ride don't have a lot of gas stations available.
2. According to my owners manual, 5.81 U.S. gallons. I have put around 5 gallon in at times.
3. Harness recall didn't stop me from having to replace a stator at 42,000 miles. Not related to the harness recall, but not at all uncommon.
If I fill up just as the red starts blinking it takes roughly 4.5 - 4.8 gals to top off the tank.
5.8 tank, most Ive ever installed is 5.3 gal, you have 1 gallon left when the low fuel light comes on.

I think that varies a bit from bike to bike. I have somewhere between 1.5 and 2 when it starts to blink.

1.5 to 2 gallon, would be very innacurate to be useful, hopefully not to many bikes like that.
The time I pushed it to 5.3 gallon fill, that was about as tight a cushion as I want to play with, I consider it safe, to go 30 miles once the fuel light start blinking, but not much more, course that assumes you getting near 40 mpg

I take it back. It is actually 1.5-2 gallons when it first goes to one line on the gauge rather than when the gauge starts to flash.
