Well i ride to work this morning in the rain since my wife is using my car & her's doesn't start. I felt i should have parked it next to my tool box like i usually do when it rains but didn't since the rain was almost over. So parked in the spot i usually do because it's out of the way of other traffic, or so i thought! I clock out for lunch & 10min later i was called down from the break room buy a fellow co-worker that informed me someone told him my bike fell over! WHHHHAAAAATTT?????? I look around the bike & find silver paint on the top right exhaust tip, broke the mirror, bent the clutch level & shifter, scratched the front, side & rear fairings & broke the feeler off the foot peg. They pushed i 1 ft before it feel to its doom.
Now i'm faced with the delema of using the cosly oem parts or if the temtaion of the cheaper replacment fairing with the tank cover are worth it. The bike does have full coverage so the ins co will cut a check for the repairs. Using the cheaper fairing kits & pocketing the extra money sounds good but some feed back would be much appreciated on quality of these kits.

Let's understand this correctly - someone at your work knocked your bike over with a silver car, and then just took off?!
Are there security cameras? If you can find this person, get him/her to pay for the damages - OEM. Otherwise, go OEM with your full coverage. Don't forget to check the radiator, and make sure the fan doesn't hit the fins in the radiator.
Yup. No camera's outside or inside viewing the parking lot. I can't explain the rage i went into with everyone coming over & gawking. "awww, that sucks", no sh*t captin obvious! as for the plastics, each one is $380 ea! i can get a whole kit for $580 & have the black/white? but like you saidit is a awsome color that is named after me :cool:
ARRRRGGH! A co-worker hit the rear of my new Camaro and said nothing. I figured out who did it based on the damage up high and checked the front of his truck and there was magically my color paint on his license plate frame. I approached him and he denied it, followed by me bluffing that I had a written witness statement. He bit and wrote me a check. Co-workers can be just as nasty as a complete stranger. Based on your pic, I would be checking the left rear of every silver car in the lot!
I ran around the lot looking at all the new cars the carrier truck had dropped off, the trade in cars, customer cars, all of it. The employee parking lit is across the street in a loose gravel lot. The spot isn't uphill. It looks like it is cause part of the lot was repaved covering half the parking spot.
If there are deep scratches in the plastic, they can be sanded down and filled, using flexible filler, the same they use for flexible ABS bumper covers on modern cars.
If the Insurance company does total it out, they'll cut you a check for it. Then you should be able to buy it from them for a cheaperrate than the check was issued for. Then you can sell it, part it or keep it. If you keep it, you can definitely get the plastics you need on the bay or here for cheaper to get it right and you'll have money in your pocket. Gouges in plastic are nothing so long as you don't mind repainting.
The insurance company usually has their own bodyshops they use for estimates. And it depends on what the adjuster tells them when the come out and look at your bike.
Those plastics can be fixed. I just fixed mine that came through a major crash - missing pieces, broken tabs and all.
I'd def. refer this to an insurance company and have them return the bike to new condition. You can then keep the old ferrings and fix them for future use or to sell.
If you want to sell them, I'll buy the front one :)

Wow! That was some breeze! I'm still unsure how I'm gonna handle this. I'm definitely getting the ins check & not having the dealer do it. I think I might just replace what needs to be to ride it & leave the plastics alone. I'd hate to leave it starched up but if I can pay off some bills & get my wife off my back about selling to loose the payments then I'll deal
Yep I have to say that the very first thing I changed on my 03 wen I bought it was the levers. The std's were as good as useless on my bike and with the biting point of the clutch nearly at its full extension it meant my hand was cramping as well. I bought some shorty levers and adjusted them to my liking and wow what a difference. I've done numerous other bits to the bike since then but none that have made as much difference :)
Well, I got a call from the ins co on 10/4 letting me know what was approved & that the adjuster had finally seen the bike. On 9/30 I ordered new ASV F3 unbreakable clutch & brake levers from motomummy on sale for $163 + free shipping & ordered the mirror through the dealer for $97, ouch! I received all the parts & picked the bike up from the dealer on friday 10/5. The next day i had some free time at work & installed the parts & took some pics of the new levers.[image: Lever 1.JPG]

After installing the levers I adjusted them to my liking as that night i was about to go to long island, ny for the first time on 2 wheels, something I've done hundreds of times in a car. During my 2 hr 120mi ride i was able to make a few quick adjustments on the fly & get used to them. They are AWSOME compaired to stk. They feel beefy, solid & tacky witht the rev'it gloves i have. If anyone was thinking about these, DO IT! Great instructions, packaging & feel. I'll be making a new thread that has more detail about my first solo rode to ny through the boroughs in the dark.
