Firstly a big hello

New to the forum but not new to the VFR. I could really do with some colour opinions for a respray of my bike.

I managed to drop the bike on my driveway when the side stand had not quite locked into place, i managed to catch the bike and kind of wrestle it to the ground but ended up with a little bit of a rash which i cannot stand being there so i have decided to have it repaired by either having it resprayed the same colour (silver) or i now have the voice of choosing a completely new colour

The wheels on the bike are silver

What would you guys have it sprayed if you had the choice

Unless you are interested in powdercoating/ painting your wheels a different color other than silver, the way that I see it is you have only a few options:

- The obligatory red.  Always looks nice, but very common.  You could go "italian red", the most common and bright Ducati style red, or a candy red like the '07 had.  I like the candy red myself with some VFR silver European logos.  that would look cool.

-The classy gloss black- easy to paint and match, very common though.  With some silver Honda logos on the tank/ VFR Euro logos, it would also look nice.  black is a pain to keep nice though.

-Stealth Flat(matte) black- just ask Timmy.  he would probably vote this as #1!!

-Blue- it would have to be a darker shade of blue, like the '07 Anniversary "spencer blue".

-Anniversary Colors- just like the '07 model.  This would look decent with silver wheels.  Very expensive to paint!

There are also aftermarket bodywork kits for sale from China.  Your results will vary.  There are lots of threads on here about the pros/ cons.  But looking at them on eBay might give you some options and help you narrow down your choices.

Of all these options that would work with the silver wheels, my vote goes with Candy Red.  Very classy, not too common, and fits the lines of the VFR well.

Good luck with your decision!

The Candy Dark Red '07 model was nice, and that color would look pretty good with your silver wheels. Although it would look better if you had your wheels stripped or chromed or ceramic coated silver.

I always wanted to do a VFR in a light blue with blue wheels. Or pink. Just to be different.

Keep in mind that the background on the OEM Honda decals are color matched to the OEM paint color, so if you change the paint color you need to replace all the decals. I could get you a set like mine for around $100 shipped.

What generation are we talking about here?  I think the 3rd, 4th, and 6th gens look excellent in white, can't say I've ever seen a 5g in white.  5g, I'd go red or yellow.  I'm also partial to the dark gray/gunmetal metallic on anything.

There are a couple of 5th gens in white. BaileyRock had one in a dark grey / gunmetal metallic :fing02:

Yeah, just looked through your gallery.  The gold decals look nice on the white, especially with those forks...  Also found one with red emblems:

Thanks for the replies gents

I have a 6th gen Vtec, i love the white but i guess it would cost a lot more to have it painted white as its a pearl and also has a black inset on the tank and the bottom of the fairings. I could maybe do it in just a full white

Cheapest is just fix the damage with the same color. I have an Italian Red and would prefer the silver had I found one - my Hi-viz gear wouldn't look so whorish on a silver bike.

since you are not saying which part of the UK, I guess you are English so white with a red cross?

Or if you are english and love a challenge, blue with a white cross, aka Scottish saltire!!!    :goofy:

Im a geordie from Newcastle so it would have to be white with a red cross  :491:

We got that color silver in 2005 only ~ it's nice. I would not paint it a different color.

Axel 7's tangerine color is really striking - definitely a custom look.  When you see the right color you'll know it.

whever you do, dont do the bottom half green, top half white with a dragon in there somewhere.........

That orange is absolutely stunning

I just redid my 2006 (which was black/grey) to white/white?  The prep and paint were about $1000 so not bad really, given the china fairings are crap and about half of the cost.

I'm going to hate white wheels after the first ride this spring I'm sure.

+1  the  white  and  black  colors  are  awesome  !!!

Another alternative is a new factory silver lower cowl. I'm not sure how much a Brit would have to pay, they are less than $400 through online discount sources here in the US.

Hmm, I like the white/black combo on my '09 VTec. If your wheels are in good nick leave 'em silver.

I didn't like the 5-spoke wheel on my '98 VFR and it doesn't look any better on my '09

I'm pretty dam happy with the cobalt blue I did on mine some 6+ years ago,

but if I had to do it all over again,

I would be really tempted to do a true to '86 F theme - not the 25th Anniversary theme.

Or possibly an RC30 theme   [image: RC30 RHF 1024]

imo the plastic and the rims should never be the same color. the bodywork is a work of art. same color rims would just muddy up the picture

If I had the chance I would look at something like a nice dark metallic purple ,old school hot rod colour would suit the character of our VFR s Stay away from lime green but any of the other hotrod colours will work .
